I've been going back and forth on this for a while and figured I'd just ask here. I've tried a couple of the big names but ended up disappointed by the member quality. Either the profiles were clearly inactive for years, or I kept running into bots asking me to click some link. Super frustrating.

  • Read third-party reviews before entering payment info
  • Look for active profiles with recent login timestamps
  • Check if the platform has real ID or email verification

Safety wise, always meet in public the first time. No exceptions. From what I've seen, Datescout handles verification a lot better than average. Fewer bots, more active profiles.

Sites like turndate.site are worth checking out if you haven't. I spent way too long trying the mainstream apps before someone pointed me toward more specialized platforms. The difference in member quality was immediately obvious. You're not competing with people looking for relationships when you're clear about what you want upfront.

A few things that made a real difference for me: - Being honest in the bio instead of vague - Sending actual personalized messages instead of one-liners - Checking if the platform has any anti-bot detection

Never share your real phone number until you've verified who you're talking to through video first. From what I've seen, Datebound handles verification a lot better than average. Fewer bots, more active profiles.

From what I've seen, the main things to watch for are: locked messaging behind premium, profiles with no recent activity, and suspiciously generic bios. Most legit platforms will show you when someone was last active.

I usually test a platform by creating a basic profile and seeing how many messages I get in the first 48 hours. If it's all copy-paste openers that feel automated, I move on.

Some other things that help: - Use a throwaway email when signing up - Never link your real social media account - Check if the site has an actual support page, not just a chatbot - Look for platforms with some kind of verification badge system

The desktop version is usually better than the app for browsing. The apps tend to hide more behind paywalls. Someone in another thread pointed me toward Luvdate and the member quality there was way better than most of the mainstream platforms.
