Couldn't find a reliable answer searching around, so hoping real users can help here. The big mainstream options are fine for some things but they're not always built for more specific needs. Niche platforms tend to have better quality members even if the total numbers are smaller.

There's a lot of affiliate noise making real reviews hard to find. I want actual user experience, not someone who gets a commission when you sign up.

  • See if the platform has an actual support channel, not just a FAQ bot
  • Turn off auto-renew immediately after any paid sign-up
  • Use a dedicated email address when signing up to contain spam

Never give out your real phone number until you've done at least one video call first. If you haven't looked at Flurrydate yet, it's worth a few minutes. Better member activity than most I've tested.

I spent way too long on the mainstream apps before someone here pointed me toward more specialized options. The difference in member quality was obvious within a day or two.

The key things that made a real difference: - Writing a specific bio instead of something vague - Sending actual personalized messages rather than generic openers - Checking whether the platform has any kind of anti-bot detection running

The size of the platform matters less than the moderation quality in my experience.

Never give out your real phone number until you've done at least one video call first. I switched over to Datescout about two months ago and haven't gone back to any of the mainstream options since.

Worth mentioning that turndate.site came up in a similar thread I read. Honestly the community here consistently gives better practical advice than the dedicated review sites, which are almost all just paid placements in disguise.

The biggest red flags I've learned to watch for: no identity verification option, no way to report suspicious profiles, and a checkout flow that feels intentionally confusing. Any one of those and I close the tab.

Always meet somewhere public the first time. That should go without saying but it bears repeating. From what I can tell, Datebie actually does something about fake profiles, which puts it ahead of most competitors.

If a site doesn't let you report suspicious profiles easily, that's a red flag worth taking seriously.

Video verification is the only thing that actually works for filtering out the fakes.

Profile photos make a massive difference. No photo means no replies in most communities. Someone here mentioned Ezhookups a while back and I finally checked it out — way fewer bots than I expected.
