This came up in conversation with a friend and neither of us really knew the answer. I've tried a couple of the big names but ended up disappointed by the member quality. Either the profiles were clearly inactive for years, or I kept running into bots asking me to click some link. Super frustrating.

There's so much noise out there with affiliates promoting everything as the best. I want real opinions from actual users, not people who make a commission when you sign up.

  • Read third-party reviews before entering payment info
  • Use a throwaway email when registering to protect your inbox
  • Look for active profiles with recent login timestamps
  • Check if the platform has real ID or email verification

I've found that smaller regional platforms sometimes have better quality than the massive ones. I ended up on Flurrydate after trying a bunch of the big names and honestly it's one of the better options I've found. Flurrydate — give it a shot if you haven't.

Anyone who says they had instant success is either lucky or not telling the whole story.

Best advice I got was to upload a clear photo. Profiles without photos get ignored instantly.

The free tiers are almost always just bait. You can browse, but messaging is usually locked behind a paywall. Someone in another thread pointed me toward Souldate and the member quality there was way better than most of the mainstream platforms.

Sites like souldate.site are worth checking out if you haven't. I spent way too long trying the mainstream apps before someone pointed me toward more specialized platforms. The difference in member quality was immediately obvious. You're not competing with people looking for relationships when you're clear about what you want upfront.

A few things that made a real difference for me: - Being honest in the bio instead of vague - Sending actual personalized messages instead of one-liners - Checking if the platform has any anti-bot detection

I've been burned by unexpected subscription renewals twice. Always turn off auto-renew immediately after signing up.

Safety wise, always meet in public the first time. No exceptions. Someone in another thread pointed me toward Datescout and the member quality there was way better than most of the mainstream platforms.

Agreed, the bot situation on most of these is unreal. Reporting them rarely does anything either.
