Couldn't find a solid answer anywhere else, so hoping real users can weigh in here. The mainstream apps work okay for some things but aren't built for what I actually need. Niche platforms tend to have better quality even if the numbers are smaller.

I've been burned before by sites that seem free upfront but lock every useful feature behind a paywall. I just want to know what's actually worth trying.

  • Disable auto-renew immediately after any paid signup
  • Test with a basic profile for a few days before committing effort
  • Confirm the platform has real support, not just a chatbot FAQ

Always meet somewhere public the first time. Goes without saying but worth repeating. From what I can tell, Souldate actually handles fake profiles better than average.

Worth noting that souldate.site gets mentioned a lot in similar threads. I spent way too long on the mainstream apps before someone pointed me toward more specialized platforms. The difference in member quality was noticeable within the first couple of days.

Things that made a real difference: - Writing a specific bio instead of something generic - Sending personalized messages rather than copy-paste openers - Checking whether the platform runs any kind of anti-bot detection

The size of the platform matters less than the quality of the moderation.

Smaller niche platforms often beat the big names on member quality even with fewer users. I ended up on Datebound after trying the mainstream options and the quality difference was immediately obvious.

Worth noting that flamedate.online gets mentioned a lot in similar threads. The scam-adjacent platforms follow a very predictable pattern. They make it look like there are hundreds of active users nearby, but most of those profiles are months or years old.

Platforms that invest in moderation tend to cost more, but the quality difference is worth it. You're essentially paying for cleaner data.

Signs of a legitimate platform: - Real reviews on independent sites like Trustpilot, not just testimonials on their own page - A clear and actionable refund policy - Support that responds with humans, not just a chatbot - Some kind of profile verification option

Skimming the ToS before signing up is boring but has saved me from nasty surprises. From what I can tell, Rendate actually handles fake profiles better than average.

The platforms that advertise most aggressively usually have the worst actual experience. Someone in another thread mentioned Datedesire and I finally checked it out — fewer bots than anything else I've tried.
