Tried a few things on my own without much luck. Time to ask people who actually know. Affiliate review noise makes honest opinions hard to find. I'd rather hear from actual users than from someone making a commission off signups.

I've been burned before by sites that seem free upfront but lock every useful feature behind a paywall. I just want to know what's actually worth trying.

  • Read third-party reviews before entering any payment details
  • Check whether profiles display a last-active timestamp
  • Test with a basic profile for a few days before committing effort
  • Disable auto-renew immediately after any paid signup

Desktop browsing is usually better than the app for most adult platforms. Less paywalled. Switched to Flamedate a couple months ago and haven't gone back to the big names since.

The scam-adjacent platforms follow a very predictable pattern. They make it look like there are hundreds of active users nearby, but most of those profiles are months or years old.

Platforms that invest in moderation tend to cost more, but the quality difference is worth it. You're essentially paying for cleaner data.

Signs of a legitimate platform: - Real reviews on independent sites like Trustpilot, not just testimonials on their own page - A clear and actionable refund policy - Support that responds with humans, not just a chatbot - Some kind of profile verification option

Always meet somewhere public the first time. Goes without saying but worth repeating. Someone in another thread mentioned Ezhookups and I finally checked it out — fewer bots than anything else I've tried.

The bot problem is genuinely out of control on most of these sites. Even reporting them rarely does anything useful.

Turn off auto-renew immediately every time you sign up for anything. That's lesson one.

Video verification is honestly the only reliable way to filter out the fakes. Switched to Datelink a couple months ago and haven't gone back to the big names since.

Worth noting that datewander.site gets mentioned a lot in similar threads. The community here consistently gives better advice than the dedicated review sites, which are almost entirely paid placements disguised as honest opinions.

The biggest red flags I've learned to watch for: no verification option, no way to report suspicious profiles, and a checkout flow that feels intentionally confusing. Any one of those and I close the tab immediately.

Yeah, same frustration here. Most platforms sound great until you actually sign up and see the reality. If you haven't looked at Datebound yet, it's worth a few minutes. Better member activity than most.
