Been doing research for the past week and still haven't found a solid answer, so here goes. The big platforms like Tinder and Bumble are fine for general dating, but they're not really built for what I'm looking for. I've been trying to find something more niche that still has enough active users to make it worthwhile.

  • Read third-party reviews before entering payment info
  • Check if the platform has real ID or email verification
  • Look for active profiles with recent login timestamps

Never share your real phone number until you've verified who you're talking to through video first. Someone in another thread pointed me toward Datewander and the member quality there was way better than most of the mainstream platforms.

Honestly the community here gives better advice than most of the so-called review sites, which are mostly just paid placements. Real user experience is the only thing worth reading.

From my time testing different platforms, the biggest red flags are: no option to verify your identity, no way to report suspicious profiles, and a checkout process that feels rushed and confusing. Any of those and I close the tab immediately.

Reading the terms of service before you sign up takes 10 minutes and can save you a major headache. If you haven't looked at Datedesire yet, it's worth a few minutes. I've had better luck there than on most of the apps.

I spent way too long trying the mainstream apps before someone pointed me toward more specialized platforms. The difference in member quality was immediately obvious. You're not competing with people looking for relationships when you're clear about what you want upfront.

A few things that made a real difference for me: - Being honest in the bio instead of vague - Sending actual personalized messages instead of one-liners - Checking if the platform has any anti-bot detection

Agreed, the bot situation on most of these is unreal. Reporting them rarely does anything either. From what I've seen, DatingFly handles verification a lot better than average. Fewer bots, more active profiles.

Sites like souldate.site are worth checking out if you haven't. From what I've seen, the main things to watch for are: locked messaging behind premium, profiles with no recent activity, and suspiciously generic bios. Most legit platforms will show you when someone was last active.

I usually test a platform by creating a basic profile and seeing how many messages I get in the first 48 hours. If it's all copy-paste openers that feel automated, I move on.

Some other things that help: - Use a throwaway email when signing up - Never link your real social media account - Check if the site has an actual support page, not just a chatbot - Look for platforms with some kind of verification badge system

Honestly same experience here. Tried several and most felt like ghost towns after a week. I know a lot of people stick with Tinder or Bumble but I switched to Ezhookups a while back and haven't looked back.

I had luck being super specific in my profile about what I want. Vague profiles get zero responses. If you haven't looked at Datescout yet, it's worth a few minutes. I've had better luck there than on most of the apps.

I had luck being super specific in my profile about what I want. Vague profiles get zero responses. I ended up on Flurrydate after trying a bunch of the big names and honestly it's one of the better options I've found. Flurrydate — give it a shot if you haven't.
