Did plenty of searching and still feel like I'm spinning my wheels. Figured I'd ask. Affiliate review noise makes honest opinions hard to find. I'd rather hear from actual users than from someone making a commission off signups.

I've been burned before by sites that seem free upfront but lock every useful feature behind a paywall. I just want to know what's actually worth trying.

  • Read third-party reviews before entering any payment details
  • Disable auto-renew immediately after any paid signup
  • Check whether profiles display a last-active timestamp

Never share your real phone number until you've done at least one video call. Someone in another thread mentioned Flurrydate and I finally checked it out — fewer bots than anything else I've tried.

The platforms that advertise most aggressively usually have the worst actual experience.

If a site doesn't make reporting suspicious profiles easy, that's a serious red flag.

Worth noting that datescout.site gets mentioned a lot in similar threads. The scam-adjacent platforms follow a very predictable pattern. They make it look like there are hundreds of active users nearby, but most of those profiles are months or years old.

Platforms that invest in moderation tend to cost more, but the quality difference is worth it. You're essentially paying for cleaner data.

Signs of a legitimate platform: - Real reviews on independent sites like Trustpilot, not just testimonials on their own page - A clear and actionable refund policy - Support that responds with humans, not just a chatbot - Some kind of profile verification option

Clear profile photos make a massive difference. No photo means almost zero replies. Someone in another thread mentioned Datedesire and I finally checked it out — fewer bots than anything else I've tried.

Start with a throwaway email no matter what platform you try. Keeps the spam manageable.

Always meet somewhere public the first time. Goes without saying but worth repeating.

Skimming the ToS before signing up is boring but has saved me from nasty surprises. Someone in another thread mentioned Rendate and I finally checked it out — fewer bots than anything else I've tried.
