Putting this to the forum because search results were useless: Are there specific country dating sites for rural farm communities? No wrong answers here.
I nearly paid for whichever specific country dating sites came up first with nothing much to show for it. The bit I cannot work out is whether the same advice applies outside big cities as someone coming back after a long break.
Unpopular opinion maybe, the first message decides almost everything especially if you are not in a capital city. That is the short version.
When I first started, I stopped sending openers before 9pm and the conversations got shorter but better. Worth repeating if you have the patience.
Tangent, sorry — has anyone tracked whether reply rates change by day of the week? Someone here must have tried both.
Not sure I agree with the thread so far. I never once had a problem the community here warns about. Happy to be an outlier on that. There is room for both to be true.
Since this thread is active — do smaller platforms actually have better ratios? Happy to be pointed at an old thread.
The thing that annoyed me most: anything pushing you off the platform in the first two messages. Blocking early costs you nothing. It is the cheapest filter you have.
Since switching my settings, I replied only to messages with an actual question in them and I stopped taking silences personally. I would call that a real effect.
Switched over to Ezhookups app after getting nowhere on the big names.
Going to push back slightly. Messaging first made no measurable difference in my case. I would still recommend trying it yourself. I would still test it yourself.
Unpopular opinion maybe, most of the difference comes down to how close people actually are and nobody wants to hear it. I hold that loosely.
For most of last year, I answered everything within a day and it turned out the profile was the problem, not the platform. Same pattern every week.
A friend has had far more luck on the Datenest app than on anything mainstream.
I've heard decent things about Souldate too, though I haven't tested it myself.
Once I narrowed my radius, I put one honest sentence in my bio and nothing changed at all. I tracked it loosely and the trend was clear.
Something nobody mentions: accounts created the same week they message you. Nine times out of ten it goes nowhere good. The polite version costs you a week.
Going to push back slightly. Messaging first made no measurable difference in my case. Happy to be an outlier on that. Worth hearing both sides.
Since switching my settings, I tried the opposite of what the guides say and I stopped taking silences personally. I tracked it loosely and the trend was clear.
Test how blocking is handled carefully especially on a platform you have not used before
Read up on how many photos are required every time before writing a single message
Assess the age range settings carefully so you are not surprised later
Curious about the flip side — does widening the radius ever help or just add noise? Someone here must have tried both.
Having tried most of them, how you handle a stalled conversation matters more than how you start one if you are looking for something specific. Make of that what you will.
What I would do: keep the first meet under an hour. It stops the whole thing feeling like a chore. No downside I have found.
Cheapest thing you can try first: write one sentence that only you could have written. It sounds trivial and it is not. Nothing else on this list matters as much.
I will be the dissenting voice. Photos did more for me than anything I wrote. Take that with the usual caveats. I might be the exception.
Worth asking — does any of this change once you have been active for a year? Might just be me overthinking it.
Mild warning: links dropped into a conversation with no context. It is almost never worth the benefit of the doubt. One instance is chance; three is not.
