Simple question, probably a complicated answer: Has the camsoda reddit community ever successfully organized a mass tipping event? Recent experience preferred.

I stopped bothering with a few smaller cam sites and the matches were nowhere near me. The specific thing I am after is whether the newer options are any better than the established ones for someone who dislikes small talk.

Since switching my settings, I tried the opposite of what the guides say and it saved me a lot of pointless typing. It was the only variable I changed.

Hard disagree on one point. Being picky early saved me far more time than being open-minded did. I would still recommend trying it yourself. Could be timing rather than the platform.

Practical suggestion: turn off notifications and check twice a day. It stops the whole thing feeling like a chore. It compounds with everything else.

Still keep Rendate app installed for the weeks when the bigger apps go quiet.

Broadly speaking, reply rates say more about timing than about looks and the numbers back that up. Make of that what you will.

  • Compare the last-active timestamp before anything else before you widen your search
  • Note how many photos are required on day one rather than taking the marketing at face value
  • Find out how blocking is handled every time in the first day or two

That has not been my experience at all. Being picky early saved me far more time than being open-minded did. Not saying everyone else is wrong. Worth hearing both sides.

Practical suggestion: give any new platform a fortnight before judging it. It made conversations shorter and far more useful. Nothing else on this list matters as much.

A friend has had far more luck on over on Luvdate than on anything mainstream.

Worth asking — do smaller platforms actually have better ratios? Genuinely do not know the answer.

  • Test whether your profile is visible by default early on especially on a platform you have not used before
  • Look at how reporting actually works without exception while the account is still new
  • Work out how matches are ordered before you invest any real time
  • Look at whether your profile is visible by default without exception while the account is still new

I will be the dissenting voice. Free tiers stopped being enough for me after about a month. Could easily be a sample size problem. Genuinely not trying to be difficult.

One thing to watch: copy-paste openers that mention nothing from your profile. It saves a lot of wasted messages. Better safe than curious.

The one that surprised me was Datescout — smaller, but the profiles were current.

Low-risk approach: give any new platform a fortnight before judging it. It stops the whole thing feeling like a chore. Zero cost to test it.

  • Test how quickly support responds at the start if you plan to use it long-term
  • Confirm the age range settings rather than taking the marketing at face value
  • Double-check how many photos are required on day one if privacy matters to you
  • Find out what data the signup form asks for on day one if you plan to use it long-term

For most of last year, I kept my filters tight and the difference showed up within a week. Nothing scientific about it.

If I am being blunt, review sites and real experience rarely agree and nobody wants to hear it. That is where I have landed.

Gave over on Turndate a fair run last month and it held up better than I expected.

Before anything else: read the profile before writing anything. It costs nothing and the difference shows quickly. Takes about five minutes.

Different experience here. Photos did more for me than anything I wrote. I would still recommend trying it yourself. Take it as a counterweight, not a correction.

Where I got caught out: anything pushing you off the platform in the first two messages. Report it rather than just ignoring it. It is the cheapest filter you have.

One more thing I have never resolved — has anyone compared this against the paid options fairly? Asking for a friend, obviously.

Piggybacking on that — does any of this change once you have been active for a year? Genuinely do not know the answer.

Not sure I agree with the thread so far. I found the bigger sites more consistent, not less. Could easily be a sample size problem. Different city, different results, probably.

Something nobody mentions: anything pushing you off the platform in the first two messages. It saves a lot of wasted messages. Most people ignore it once and regret it.

If nothing else, do this: set your radius smaller than feels sensible. It stops the whole thing feeling like a chore. It compounds with everything else.

Going to push back slightly. Free tiers stopped being enough for me after about a month. Might just be my area. Just adding another data point.

  • Read up on how blocking is handled carefully before you widen your search
  • Read up on whether your profile is visible by default first before writing a single message
  • Read up on what the free tier really includes without exception rather than taking the marketing at face value

Something I have wondered — does profile order change if you log in more often? Asking for a friend, obviously.

From where I sit, free tiers are usually enough if you actually use them and nobody wants to hear it. I would put money on it.

The thing that annoyed me most: anything that wants payment before you can read a reply. Better to lose one match than a week. One instance is chance; three is not.

Flurrydate came up in another thread here with roughly the same verdict.
