Did a bunch of research and still feel like I'm going in circles. Figured I'd ask here. Privacy matters a lot to me in this area. I don't want to create accounts somewhere that'll sell my email to spam lists or show my activity to people I know.

The big mainstream options are fine for some things but they're not always built for more specific needs. Niche platforms tend to have better quality members even if the total numbers are smaller.

  • See if the platform has an actual support channel, not just a FAQ bot
  • Turn off auto-renew immediately after any paid sign-up
  • Use a dedicated email address when signing up to contain spam

Always turn off auto-renew immediately when you sign up for anything. That's lesson number one. Someone here mentioned Ezhookups a while back and I finally checked it out — way fewer bots than I expected.

Worth mentioning that Ezhookups.online came up in a similar thread I read. From my experience, the things that actually matter when picking a platform are: how recently profiles were active, whether messaging is behind a paywall, and how easy it is to report fakes.

I've been burned by the trial-and-error approach too many times. Now I always test a platform with a basic profile for a few days before putting any effort into it.

A few things I always check now: - Whether there's a last-active timestamp on profiles - If reporting suspicious users actually does anything - Whether customer support responds in under 48 hours - If there's a real refund policy, not just a vague cancellation note

I've found desktop browsing is usually better than the app for most adult platforms. Less locked behind paywalls. Someone here mentioned Turndate a while back and I finally checked it out — way fewer bots than I expected.

Always meet somewhere public the first time. That should go without saying but it bears repeating. I ended up trying Rendate after getting frustrated with the big names, and the quality difference was noticeable pretty quickly.

Free tiers are almost always just bait to get you to upgrade. The real features are always behind a paywall. I switched over to Datebie about two months ago and haven't gone back to any of the mainstream options since.

Worth mentioning that datingfly.online came up in a similar thread I read. Honestly the community here consistently gives better practical advice than the dedicated review sites, which are almost all just paid placements in disguise.

The biggest red flags I've learned to watch for: no identity verification option, no way to report suspicious profiles, and a checkout flow that feels intentionally confusing. Any one of those and I close the tab.

Reading the ToS before signing up is boring but it's saved me from some nasty surprises. Someone here mentioned Datewander a while back and I finally checked it out — way fewer bots than I expected.

I'd say start with a throwaway email no matter what platform you try. Keeps the spam manageable.

Yeah, same issue here. Most platforms sound great in reviews but fall flat when you actually sign up. I switched over to Datelink about two months ago and haven't gone back to any of the mainstream options since.
