Been going round in circles on this one: How limited is the dating com free membership? Bonus points if you have used it in the last few months.
I spent about a month on a few smaller adult dating platforms and the messaging limits killed it. What would settle this for me is how you avoid wasting a fortnight on the wrong platform as someone coming back after a long break.
Least effort, most return: turn off notifications and check twice a day. It costs nothing and the difference shows quickly. Takes about five minutes.
The first fortnight, I stopped sending openers before 9pm and I finally stopped wasting evenings. The change was obvious enough to notice without counting.
Based on a fairly small sample, review sites and real experience rarely agree once you have been at it a few weeks. Feel free to prove me wrong.
Someone in another thread pointed me at Rendate and it turned out to be decent advice.
I've heard decent things about Rendate too, though I haven't tested it myself.
Meet Lubeck singles without a paywall No subscription, no card and no upgrade prompts anywhere in Lubeck.
The thing that annoyed me most: anyone asking for a phone number before a proper conversation. Nine times out of ten it goes nowhere good. Most people ignore it once and regret it.
Slightly off-topic but — is it worth keeping profiles on two platforms at once? Would love a straight answer on that.
Different experience here. I found the bigger sites more consistent, not less. Your experience may well differ. I would still test it yourself.
For what it is worth, flurrydate.online was the one that finally got me past the first-message stage.
Low-risk approach: give any new platform a fortnight before judging it. It also makes the meet-up conversation much easier. No downside I have found.
Red flag for me: anyone asking for a phone number before a proper conversation. It is the clearest signal there is. The cost of being wrong is low.
Going to push back slightly. I never once had a problem the community here warns about. Happy to be an outlier on that. Small sample on my side too.
After rewriting my profile, I replied only to messages with an actual question in them and it turned out the profile was the problem, not the platform. Nothing scientific about it.
