I have had mixed results with faith-based dating apps and the messaging limits killed it. The bit I cannot work out is how you handle it when a conversation just stops without making it a second job.

Respectfully, I read it differently. I never once had a problem the community here warns about. Happy to be an outlier on that. There is room for both to be true.
Low-risk approach: put a question at the end of every opener. It costs nothing and the difference shows quickly. It also makes the rest easier.
