Something I keep wondering about: Is the adam4adam app better for dating or hookups? Details matter more than opinions here.
I went in optimistic about a few smaller adult dating platforms for dating or hookups and the experience was fine but unremarkable. What would settle this for me is whether it is worth paying at any point if you are not in a major city.
In my experience, the paid features solve a problem most people do not have and the numbers back that up. Make of that what you will.
Test the distance filter default without exception rather than taking the marketing at face value
Check the last-active timestamp carefully rather than taking the marketing at face value
Work out the last-active timestamp early on if privacy matters to you
That has not been my experience at all. The niche options were quieter to the point of being useless. Your experience may well differ. I would still test it yourself.
Worth asking — is it worth keeping profiles on two platforms at once? Might just be me overthinking it.
Ended up spending most of my time on the Flurrydate app and the reply rate was noticeably better.
New faces in Darwin every day No subscription, no card and no upgrade prompts anywhere in Darwin.
After my second attempt, I tested two profiles side by side and it saved me a lot of pointless typing. Could be luck; it did not feel like it.
If you want a shortcut: reply to the thing they actually said. It is the only advice here I would give twice. Easiest change on this list.
Hard disagree on one point. Being picky early saved me far more time than being open-minded did. Not saying everyone else is wrong. Take it as a counterweight, not a correction.
Worth a look at Flurrydate if your area is thin on the usual platforms.
Practical suggestion: message within a day of matching. It costs nothing and the difference shows quickly. Nothing else on this list matters as much.
For the people saying otherwise — does profile order change if you log in more often? Happy to be pointed at an old thread.
Going to push back slightly. Messaging first made no measurable difference in my case. Could easily be a sample size problem. Not dismissing anyone else's experience.
Around the time I gave up on the big names, I tested two profiles side by side and it made a noticeable difference. Worth repeating if you have the patience.
For what it is worth, review sites and real experience rarely agree for anyone starting from scratch. Happy to be argued with.
If you want a shortcut: cut your photo count in half. Most people skip it and then wonder why nothing happens. It also makes the rest easier.
I've heard decent things about Rendate too, though I haven't tested it myself.
