I have had mixed results with a couple of mingle2 dating site with nothing much to show for it. My real question is how you tell an active profile from an abandoned one when you have limited time in the evenings.

For about six weeks, I dropped every conversation that stalled twice and I stopped taking silences personally. That held for about two months.
If I am being blunt, how you handle a stalled conversation matters more than how you start one and I doubt that changes soon. It is a boring answer and a true one.

Adding a counterpoint. Being picky early saved me far more time than being open-minded did. Might just be my area. There is room for both to be true.
Red flag for me: links dropped into a conversation with no context. It is the clearest signal there is. It rarely turns out to be innocent.
