Putting this to the forum because search results were useless: Is the tender date app just a clone of Tinder? No wrong answers here.
I gave up on whichever dating apps came up first and I would rather not repeat the mistake. Where I need help is how you tell an active profile from an abandoned one without making it a second job.
Find out the distance filter default carefully before writing a single message
Verify what data the signup form asks for at the start on any platform you are considering
Verify how reporting actually works straight away if you plan to use it long-term
Mild warning: sites that hide the message count behind an upgrade. It is almost never worth the benefit of the doubt. Trust the pattern, not the excuse.
Two months in, I let the other person pick the plan and the difference showed up within a week. Small sample, but consistent.
Practical suggestion: reply to the thing they actually said. It stops the whole thing feeling like a chore. Skip the clever stuff until you have done that.
Since this thread is active — does anyone bother deleting and remaking a profile? I have never seen data either way.
Between the free options I tested, Luvdate had the least aggressive upsell.
Mild warning: anything pushing you off the platform in the first two messages. It is almost never worth the benefit of the doubt. The cost of being wrong is low.
Not sure I agree with the thread so far. I found the bigger sites more consistent, not less. Take that with the usual caveats. Take it as a counterweight, not a correction.
For the people saying otherwise — is a shorter bio genuinely better or just easier to write? I have never seen data either way.
Around the time I gave up on the big names, I stopped explaining myself in the first message and I finally stopped wasting evenings. Worth repeating if you have the patience.
Gave Rendate community a fair run last month and it held up better than I expected.
Respectfully, I read it differently. Messaging first made no measurable difference in my case. Take that with the usual caveats. Worth hearing both sides.
Verify how blocking is handled on any platform you are considering
Verify the age range settings if privacy matters to you
Read up on whether messaging is capped properly while the account is still new
Having tried most of them, the paid features solve a problem most people do not have though your mileage will vary. The exceptions are rarer than people think.
What I would do: give any new platform a fortnight before judging it. It made conversations shorter and far more useful. Try it for one week only.
Hard disagree on one point. I never once had a problem the community here warns about. Could easily be a sample size problem. Take it as a counterweight, not a correction.
A couple of people in my circle swear by Souldate for the same reason.
Not sure I agree with the thread so far. The niche options were quieter to the point of being useless. Could easily be a sample size problem. Open to changing my mind on it.
Compare how quickly support responds without exception before you invest any real time
Double-check how reporting actually works properly before you upload anything personal
Verify the refund and cancellation terms on day one while the account is still new
Anyone else find that — does this hold up outside big cities? Might just be me overthinking it.
Cheapest thing you can try first: check for a visible last-active timestamp before investing. It also makes the meet-up conversation much easier. It compounds with everything else.
