Something I keep wondering about: Statistically, what is the best online dating app for marriages? Real experiences only, please.
I have had mixed results with a couple of online dating app and the matches were nowhere near me. What would settle this for me is whether the free option is genuinely usable without handing over a card number.
I will be the dissenting voice. Being picky early saved me far more time than being open-minded did. Your experience may well differ. Not dismissing anyone else's experience.
I will be the dissenting voice. The niche options were quieter to the point of being useless. I would still recommend trying it yourself. Take it as a counterweight, not a correction.
The thing that annoyed me most: profiles that only ever reply in the small hours. It saves a lot of wasted messages. There is no upside to waiting it out.
Tried Flurrydate app on a whim and it has been the steadier of the two I use.
I've heard decent things about Datedesire too, though I haven't tested it myself.

Not sure I agree with the thread so far. I found the bigger sites more consistent, not less. Could easily be a sample size problem. Open to changing my mind on it.
Where I got caught out: profiles with a single photo and no last-active date. Report it rather than just ignoring it. Nobody has ever thanked me for being patient there.
One thing that helped: cut your photo count in half. It also makes the meet-up conversation much easier. You will not need a second attempt.
That has not been my experience at all. The niche options were quieter to the point of being useless. Take that with the usual caveats. There is room for both to be true.
A friend has had far more luck on over on Datescout than on anything mainstream.
Watch out for anything that wants payment before you can read a reply. Once you notice it you cannot unsee it. The polite version costs you a week.
Review the distance filter default up front rather than taking the marketing at face value
Compare the distance filter default carefully in the first day or two
Confirm the last-active timestamp properly in the first day or two
Look at what the free tier really includes straight away before you invest any real time
Test the distance filter default straight away on any platform you are considering
What I would do: message within a day of matching. It also makes the meet-up conversation much easier. Zero cost to test it.
Not sure I agree with the thread so far. I found the bigger sites more consistent, not less. Worth testing both ways. That is one person's view against the thread.
Since switching my settings, I ignored anything without a visible last-active date and the reply rate roughly doubled. Nothing scientific about it.
Gave datedesire.online a fair run last month and it held up better than I expected.
If nothing else, do this: give any new platform a fortnight before judging it. That one change fixed most of my problems. Zero cost to test it.
Adding a counterpoint. I never once had a problem the community here warns about. Not saying everyone else is wrong. That is one person's view against the thread.
Related, and I am curious — does profile order change if you log in more often? No agenda, just curious.
Two months in, I put one honest sentence in my bio and the difference showed up within a week. The change was obvious enough to notice without counting.
Curious about the flip side — is it worth keeping profiles on two platforms at once? Would change how I use it if so.
From where I sit, how you handle a stalled conversation matters more than how you start one which is why the generic advice keeps failing. Ask again in six months and I may say something else.
That has not been my experience at all. The platform genuinely does matter if you are outside a major city. Take that with the usual caveats. Different city, different results, probably.
Someone in another thread pointed me at over on Flurrydate and it turned out to be decent advice.
Ended up spending most of my time on the Datelink app and the reply rate was noticeably better.
