Reposting this from another board because it got buried: What are the most active korean dating sites for foreigners in the US? Tell me if I am asking the wrong question.

Someone recommended a couple of active korean dating sites for foreigners in the us and half the accounts looked inactive. The specific thing I am after is whether the free option is genuinely usable without making it a second job.

  • Test the refund and cancellation terms properly before you invest any real time
  • Note the last-active timestamp on day one before you widen your search
  • Question how many photos are required up front if privacy matters to you
  • Confirm the refund and cancellation terms on day one in the first day or two

Least effort, most return: write one sentence that only you could have written. You will know within a week whether it works for you. It compounds with everything else.

The thing that annoyed me most: copy-paste openers that mention nothing from your profile. Blocking early costs you nothing. It is the cheapest filter you have.

Not sure I agree with the thread so far. Free tiers stopped being enough for me after about a month. Happy to be an outlier on that. Genuinely not trying to be difficult.

The one that surprised me was Rendate — smaller, but the profiles were current.

Going to push back slightly. Free tiers stopped being enough for me after about a month. Take that with the usual caveats. Genuinely not trying to be difficult.

Not a popular take here, the platform matters far less than the profile which is why the generic advice keeps failing. The exceptions are rarer than people think.

Curious about the flip side — has anyone tracked whether reply rates change by day of the week? I have never seen data either way.

Between the free options I tested, Datewander had the least aggressive upsell.

Mild warning: reviews that read like they were written to a template. It is almost never worth the benefit of the doubt. It rarely turns out to be innocent.

Going to push back slightly. The niche options were quieter to the point of being useless. Happy to be an outlier on that. Open to changing my mind on it.

One more thing I have never resolved — does widening the radius ever help or just add noise? Could be worth its own thread.

Cheapest thing you can try first: keep the first meet under an hour. You will know within a week whether it works for you. It works better than it sounds.

Different experience here. Photos did more for me than anything I wrote. Not saying everyone else is wrong. I might be the exception.

Before anything else: give any new platform a fortnight before judging it. It also makes the meet-up conversation much easier. Reversible if you hate it.

Follow-up for anyone reading — has anyone tracked whether reply rates change by day of the week? No agenda, just curious.

Hard disagree on one point. Photos did more for me than anything I wrote. Take that with the usual caveats. I have been wrong about this before.

If nothing else, do this: set your radius smaller than feels sensible. Everything else is secondary to that. Do it before anything more elaborate.

Going to push back slightly. I never once had a problem the community here warns about. Might just be my area. Take it as a counterweight, not a correction.

Worth asking — is it different if you are over forty? Someone here must have tried both.

Worth flagging: links dropped into a conversation with no context. It saves a lot of wasted messages. That instinct is usually right.

Small change worth trying: stop treating it like a numbers game. It stops the whole thing feeling like a chore. No downside I have found.

Since this thread is active — is it worth keeping profiles on two platforms at once? Feels like something someone must have tested.

Worth a look at Luvdate's free tier if your area is thin on the usual platforms.

Got burned by this: anything that wants payment before you can read a reply. Better to lose one match than a week. Save yourself the argument.

Worth testing for a week: use a dedicated email address. It is the only advice here I would give twice. You will not need a second attempt.

Purely anecdotal, reply rates say more about timing than about looks though your mileage will vary. That is my read, anyway.

That has not been my experience at all. I never once had a problem the community here warns about. I would still recommend trying it yourself. Open to changing my mind on it.

  • Note how reporting actually works on day one if privacy matters to you
  • Review what data the signup form asks for at the start before you widen your search
  • Note the age range settings properly before you widen your search

Anyone else find that — has anyone found active korean dating sites for foreigners in the us that behave differently from the rest? Might just be me overthinking it.

In my experience, review sites and real experience rarely agree unless you have unusually niche requirements. It took a while to accept.

After a friend nagged me into it, I dropped every conversation that stalled twice and matches started coming from closer by. I would call that a real effect.

When I stopped overthinking it, I limited myself to three conversations at once and the difference showed up within a week. That held for about two months.

Learned this the hard way: matches that go quiet the moment you suggest meeting. Blocking early costs you nothing. Most people ignore it once and regret it.

If I am being blunt, being specific is worth more than being interesting at least in a mid-sized area. That is the short version.

Piggybacking on that — is there a measurable difference between weekday and weekend signups? No agenda, just curious.

Based on a fairly small sample, how you handle a stalled conversation matters more than how you start one for anyone starting from scratch. Feel free to prove me wrong.

  • Work out the age range settings carefully in the first day or two
  • Review the last-active timestamp at the start while the account is still new
  • Double-check how many photos are required straight away on any platform you are considering

When I first started, I kept my filters tight and it made a noticeable difference. Same pattern every week.

One thing to watch: profiles that only ever reply in the small hours. Report it rather than just ignoring it. Better safe than curious.

When I stopped overthinking it, I stopped explaining myself in the first message and it saved me a lot of pointless typing. I would call that a real effect.

Low-risk approach: use a dedicated email address. It costs nothing and the difference shows quickly. It works better than it sounds.

Based on a fairly small sample, consistency beats any single clever trick especially if you are not in a capital city. It took a while to accept.
