Putting this to the forum because search results were useless: What are the secret dating sites that executives use? Even a partial answer helps.

I went in optimistic about the most recommended secret dating sites and I could not tell which reviews were paid for. The part that matters to me is how you handle it when a conversation just stops for someone who dislikes small talk.

Not sure I agree with the thread so far. I never once had a problem the community here warns about. Take that with the usual caveats. I might be the exception.

Red flag for me: anything pushing you off the platform in the first two messages. Once you notice it you cannot unsee it. There is no upside to waiting it out.

Practical suggestion: stop treating it like a numbers game. Most people skip it and then wonder why nothing happens. Easiest change on this list.

Once I narrowed my radius, I messaged first every single time and it turned out the profile was the problem, not the platform. It was the only variable I changed.

Still keep Datelink installed for the weeks when the bigger apps go quiet.

Honestly, profile quality beats profile quantity every time at least in a mid-sized area. It took a while to accept.

Where I got caught out: auto-renew on any trial you sign up for. Better to lose one match than a week. That instinct is usually right.

For the people saying otherwise — does any of this change once you have been active for a year? Might just be me overthinking it.

Hard disagree on one point. Being picky early saved me far more time than being open-minded did. Take that with the usual caveats. I might be the exception.

Ended up spending most of my time on Luvdate and the reply rate was noticeably better.

That has not been my experience at all. The platform genuinely does matter if you are outside a major city. Take that with the usual caveats. I might be the exception.

I will be the dissenting voice. Messaging first made no measurable difference in my case. Could easily be a sample size problem. Not dismissing anyone else's experience.

Anyone else find that — does profile order change if you log in more often? I have never seen data either way.

Worth a look at Souldate if your area is thin on the usual platforms.

After my second attempt, I ignored anything without a visible last-active date and I got three real plans out of it. Nothing scientific about it.

Red flag for me: reviews that read like they were written to a template. It is the clearest signal there is. Trust the pattern, not the excuse.

Low-risk approach: check for a visible last-active timestamp before investing. It is the only advice here I would give twice. It compounds with everything else.

If you want a free option without the upsell, Flurrydate (free to message) is where I would start.

Unpopular opinion maybe, profile quality beats profile quantity every time especially if you are not in a capital city. That is my read, anyway.

After a friend nagged me into it, I kept photos to four and cut the rest and I stopped taking silences personally. Worth repeating if you have the patience.

Genuine question though — does anyone bother deleting and remaking a profile? Could be worth its own thread.

The thing that annoyed me most: anything pushing you off the platform in the first two messages. It is the clearest signal there is. That instinct is usually right.

Tried Datewander's free tier on a whim and it has been the steadier of the two I use.

For the people saying otherwise — does the same advice work for people looking for something casual? Might just be me overthinking it.

  • Look at what the free tier really includes straight away before you upload anything personal
  • Assess how reporting actually works on day one so you are not surprised later
  • Check whether messaging is capped first if privacy matters to you
  • Read up on what data the signup form asks for before anything else before you widen your search
  • Compare how many photos are required straight away while the account is still new

Broadly speaking, consistency beats any single clever trick and nobody wants to hear it. Others here will disagree.

Different experience here. Free tiers stopped being enough for me after about a month. Not saying everyone else is wrong. I have been wrong about this before.

The first fortnight, I kept my filters tight and I stopped taking silences personally. Your area may behave differently.

One thing that helped: stop treating it like a numbers game. Everything else is secondary to that. No downside I have found.

From where I sit, the busiest platform is not automatically the best one for you though your mileage will vary. I hold that loosely.

Hard disagree on one point. Messaging first made no measurable difference in my case. Could easily be a sample size problem. I would still test it yourself.

Hard disagree on one point. I found the bigger sites more consistent, not less. Could easily be a sample size problem. Different city, different results, probably.

Worth testing for a week: put a question at the end of every opener. It removes about half the frustration. Easiest change on this list.

I will be the dissenting voice. The platform genuinely does matter if you are outside a major city. Happy to be an outlier on that. Different city, different results, probably.

When I first started, I messaged first every single time and I stopped taking silences personally. I would call that a real effect.

Hard disagree on one point. Photos did more for me than anything I wrote. Worth testing both ways. Worth hearing both sides.

Curious about the flip side — has anyone found secret dating sites that behave differently from the rest? Happy to be pointed at an old thread.

Realistically, the paid features solve a problem most people do not have which is why the generic advice keeps failing. I hold that loosely.

Red flag for me: sites that hide the message count behind an upgrade. Nine times out of ten it goes nowhere good. Nobody has ever thanked me for being patient there.

If you want a shortcut: set your radius smaller than feels sensible. It costs nothing and the difference shows quickly. You will not need a second attempt.

Based on a fairly small sample, most of the difference comes down to how close people actually are for anyone starting from scratch. Feel free to prove me wrong.

Since this thread is active — is a shorter bio genuinely better or just easier to write? Would love a straight answer on that.

Worth flagging: anyone asking for a phone number before a proper conversation. That pattern has been consistent for me across platforms. It is not worth a second thought.

Piggybacking on that — do smaller platforms actually have better ratios? Asking for a friend, obviously.

  • Work out how many photos are required up front if you plan to use it long-term
  • Work out whether messaging is capped carefully on any platform you are considering
  • Note how many photos are required carefully in the first day or two
  • Double-check the distance filter default straight away in the first day or two
  • Question how matches are ordered early on if privacy matters to you

Around the time I gave up on the big names, I dropped every conversation that stalled twice and the reply rate roughly doubled. That held for about two months.

Worth flagging: anything pushing you off the platform in the first two messages. It is almost never worth the benefit of the doubt. Move on and do not look back.
