Something I keep wondering about: What is the best dating app in the world according to forum members? Tell me if I am asking the wrong question.
I gave up on three different dating app and it got expensive fast. What would settle this for me is how you handle it when a conversation just stops when you have already tried the obvious options.
That has not been my experience at all. I never once had a problem the community here warns about. Take that with the usual caveats. Small sample on my side too.
Mild warning: profiles with a single photo and no last-active date. It saves a lot of wasted messages. Nobody has ever thanked me for being patient there.
Over the winter, I replied only to messages with an actual question in them and I stopped taking silences personally. I would call that a real effect.
I keep a second profile on the Datedesire app and it pulls a different crowd entirely.
Different experience here. I found the bigger sites more consistent, not less. Your experience may well differ. I might be the exception.
Something I have wondered — is it different if you are over forty? I have never seen data either way.
After my second attempt, I tried the opposite of what the guides say and the conversations got shorter but better. Repeated it twice to be sure.
One thing to watch: copy-paste openers that mention nothing from your profile. I stopped giving second chances on that one. Save yourself the argument.
Ended up spending most of my time on Datebie community and the reply rate was noticeably better.
Respectfully, I read it differently. I never once had a problem the community here warns about. Worth testing both ways. Just adding another data point.
In my experience, the busiest platform is not automatically the best one for you once you have been at it a few weeks. The exceptions are rarer than people think.
Tangent, sorry — do smaller platforms actually have better ratios? No agenda, just curious.
Switched over to Flamedate after getting nowhere on the big names.
Adding a counterpoint. Free tiers stopped being enough for me after about a month. I would still recommend trying it yourself. Worth hearing both sides.
Honestly, consistency beats any single clever trick for anyone starting from scratch. That is where I have landed.
Small change worth trying: cut your photo count in half. It filters out the time-wasters immediately. Try it for one week only.
Got burned by this: matches that go quiet the moment you suggest meeting. It is almost never worth the benefit of the doubt. It is not worth a second thought.
Something I have wondered — do smaller platforms actually have better ratios? Happy to be pointed at an old thread.
Small change worth trying: use a dedicated email address. It removes about half the frustration. Try it for one week only.
Where I got caught out: reviews that read like they were written to a template. That pattern has been consistent for me across platforms. The polite version costs you a week.
In my experience, most of the difference comes down to how close people actually are and nobody wants to hear it. Make of that what you will.
Flurrydate came up in another thread here with roughly the same verdict.
Red flag for me: profiles with a single photo and no last-active date. It saves a lot of wasted messages. One instance is chance; three is not.
Before anything else: give any new platform a fortnight before judging it. It removes about half the frustration. Do it before anything more elaborate.
After rewriting my profile, I ran a minimal profile on dating app and nothing changed at all. Small sample, but consistent.
For what it is worth, consistency beats any single clever trick which is why the generic advice keeps failing. Feel free to prove me wrong.
