I burned two weekends on a couple of cam sites and it got expensive fast. The bit I cannot work out is whether reply rates are as bad as they look without spending anything to find out.
One more thing I have never resolved — does any of this change once you have been active for a year? Could be worth its own thread.
Worth flagging: profiles with a single photo and no last-active date. Nine times out of ten it goes nowhere good. It rarely turns out to be innocent.
Worth testing for a week: reply to the thing they actually said. It costs nothing and the difference shows quickly. No downside I have found.
Based on a fairly small sample, the platform matters far less than the profile unless you have unusually niche requirements. I hold that loosely.
