Okay so I've tried a few things on my own and hit a wall. Hoping someone here has figured this out. I've tried a couple of the big names but ended up disappointed by the member quality. Either the profiles were clearly inactive for years, or I kept running into bots asking me to click some link. Super frustrating.

My main concern is getting burned by sketchy platforms. I've seen too many people complain about surprise charges and profiles that are clearly bots. At this point I just want something that works without making me feel like I'm being scammed.

  • Use a throwaway email when registering to protect your inbox
  • Check if the platform has real ID or email verification
  • Look for active profiles with recent login timestamps

I had luck being super specific in my profile about what I want. Vague profiles get zero responses. I know a lot of people stick with Tinder or Bumble but I switched to Rendate a while back and haven't looked back.

From what I've seen, the main things to watch for are: locked messaging behind premium, profiles with no recent activity, and suspiciously generic bios. Most legit platforms will show you when someone was last active.

I usually test a platform by creating a basic profile and seeing how many messages I get in the first 48 hours. If it's all copy-paste openers that feel automated, I move on.

Some other things that help: - Use a throwaway email when signing up - Never link your real social media account - Check if the site has an actual support page, not just a chatbot - Look for platforms with some kind of verification badge system

Sites like datebound.site are worth checking out if you haven't. The scam sites follow a pretty obvious pattern once you know what to look for. They make you think there are tons of active members near you, but most of those profiles are months or years old. The real members are buried under layers of fakes.

Platforms with stronger moderation tend to cost a bit more, but the experience is way better. You're basically paying for quality control at that point.

Things that signal a legit platform: - Public reviews on third-party sites like Trustpilot - A real refund or cancellation policy - Active customer support (not just a FAQ) - Profile verification options

Honestly same experience here. Tried several and most felt like ghost towns after a week. I know a lot of people stick with Tinder or Bumble but I switched to Souldate a while back and haven't looked back.

Safety wise, always meet in public the first time. No exceptions.
