Been going round in circles on this one: Which 100 free dating app has the highest success rate for long-term couples? Any first-hand answers appreciated.

I have had mixed results with the free tier on several free dating app for long-term couples and I want to know if that is normal. What I actually want to know is which features are worth caring about if you are not in a major city.

Since switching my settings, I ran a minimal profile on free dating app for long-term couples and the conversations got shorter but better. That held for about two months.

  • Test the distance filter default first so you are not surprised later
  • Compare what the free tier really includes carefully if privacy matters to you
  • Double-check the last-active timestamp first while the account is still new

Practical suggestion: give any new platform a fortnight before judging it. It costs nothing and the difference shows quickly. No downside I have found.

Adding a counterpoint. The niche options were quieter to the point of being useless. Your experience may well differ. Not dismissing anyone else's experience.

Based on a fairly small sample, review sites and real experience rarely agree and nobody wants to hear it. That is the short version.

Still keep DatingFly community installed for the weeks when the bigger apps go quiet.

Careful with anyone asking for a phone number before a proper conversation. It is almost never worth the benefit of the doubt. Nobody has ever thanked me for being patient there.

  • Work out whether messaging is capped first before you widen your search
  • Look at how quickly support responds without exception especially on a platform you have not used before
  • Work out how matches are ordered without exception in the first day or two
  • Confirm what data the signup form asks for properly before you invest any real time

That has not been my experience at all. The platform genuinely does matter if you are outside a major city. Not saying everyone else is wrong. Could be timing rather than the platform.

Genuine question though — is it worth keeping profiles on two platforms at once? No agenda, just curious.

Someone in another thread pointed me at Datebound app and it turned out to be decent advice.

For what it is worth, the platform matters far less than the profile and nobody wants to hear it. I would put money on it.

Learned this the hard way: profiles that only ever reply in the small hours. I stopped giving second chances on that one. Nobody has ever thanked me for being patient there.

That has not been my experience at all. Free tiers stopped being enough for me after about a month. Happy to be an outlier on that. Could be timing rather than the platform.

Last month, I limited myself to three conversations at once and it turned out the profile was the problem, not the platform. Your area may behave differently.

A friend has had far more luck on Flurrydate's free tier than on anything mainstream.

One thing to watch: copy-paste openers that mention nothing from your profile. It is the clearest signal there is. Move on and do not look back.

  • Find out the last-active timestamp on day one if you plan to use it long-term
  • Work out what the free tier really includes before anything else so you are not surprised later
  • Question how blocking is handled carefully so you are not surprised later

Going to push back slightly. Messaging first made no measurable difference in my case. Your experience may well differ. There is room for both to be true.

Realistically, reply rates say more about timing than about looks at least in a mid-sized area. Make of that what you will.

I've heard decent things about Datedesire too, though I haven't tested it myself.

Something I have wondered — do verified badges actually change anything? Might just be me overthinking it.

Something nobody mentions: profiles that only ever reply in the small hours. It is the clearest signal there is. It is the cheapest filter you have.

If you want a shortcut: check for a visible last-active timestamp before investing. It removes about half the frustration. You will not need a second attempt.
