This came up in conversation with a friend and neither of us really knew the answer. Privacy is a huge deal for me. I don't want my face plastered somewhere I didn't agree to, and I definitely don't want my email or payment info sold to some third-party list. Anyone who's found a trustworthy platform, I'd love to hear about it.

  • Use a throwaway email when registering to protect your inbox
  • Check if the platform has real ID or email verification
  • Start on the free tier to test member quality before upgrading

Agreed, the bot situation on most of these is unreal. Reporting them rarely does anything either. I know a lot of people stick with Tinder or Bumble but I switched to Datescout a while back and haven't looked back.

Sites like datelink.online are worth checking out if you haven't. Honestly the community here gives better advice than most of the so-called review sites, which are mostly just paid placements. Real user experience is the only thing worth reading.

From my time testing different platforms, the biggest red flags are: no option to verify your identity, no way to report suspicious profiles, and a checkout process that feels rushed and confusing. Any of those and I close the tab immediately.

The desktop version is usually better than the app for browsing. The apps tend to hide more behind paywalls. Someone in another thread pointed me toward Datebound and the member quality there was way better than most of the mainstream platforms.

Sites like datescout.site are worth checking out if you haven't. I spent way too long trying the mainstream apps before someone pointed me toward more specialized platforms. The difference in member quality was immediately obvious. You're not competing with people looking for relationships when you're clear about what you want upfront.

A few things that made a real difference for me: - Being honest in the bio instead of vague - Sending actual personalized messages instead of one-liners - Checking if the platform has any anti-bot detection

Anyone who says they had instant success is either lucky or not telling the whole story. I ended up on Ezhookups after trying a bunch of the big names and honestly it's one of the better options I've found. Ezhookups — give it a shot if you haven't.
