Would rather hear it from members than from a review site: Which free black dating apps have the best matching algorithms? Tell me if I am asking the wrong question.
Someone recommended the most recommended free black dating apps and I still cannot tell if it is me or the platform. What nobody seems to answer is how much of this is down to the profile itself as someone coming back after a long break.
Having tried most of them, the platform matters far less than the profile once you have been at it a few weeks. I would put money on it.
Before anything else: read the profile before writing anything. It also makes the meet-up conversation much easier. You will not need a second attempt.
Tangent, sorry — has anyone tracked whether reply rates change by day of the week? Would change how I use it if so.
Someone in another thread pointed me at the Luvdate app and it turned out to be decent advice.

I will be the dissenting voice. The platform genuinely does matter if you are outside a major city. I would still recommend trying it yourself. I might be the exception.
From where I sit, reply rates say more about timing than about looks and the numbers back that up. Make of that what you will.
What I would do: read the profile before writing anything. It made conversations shorter and far more useful. It works better than it sounds.
For what it is worth, Datedesire's free tier was the one that finally got me past the first-message stage.
For most of last year, I limited myself to three conversations at once and the whole thing felt less like admin. It was the only variable I changed.
Going to push back slightly. Free tiers stopped being enough for me after about a month. Happy to be an outlier on that. Could be timing rather than the platform.
Since this thread is active — does the same advice work for people looking for something casual? Could be worth its own thread.
Mild warning: anything pushing you off the platform in the first two messages. That pattern has been consistent for me across platforms. It rarely turns out to be innocent.
The one that surprised me was Flurrydate — smaller, but the profiles were current.
Curious about the flip side — does this hold up outside big cities? Asking for a friend, obviously.
Hard disagree on one point. I never once had a problem the community here warns about. Your experience may well differ. I have been wrong about this before.
The advice I wish I had: reply to the thing they actually said. Everything else is secondary to that. Reversible if you hate it.
Going to push back slightly. I found the bigger sites more consistent, not less. Worth testing both ways. There is room for both to be true.
Note how quickly support responds up front before you upload anything personal
Note whether profiles are verified before anything else especially on a platform you have not used before
Review what data the signup form asks for first before you invest any real time
Find out how matches are ordered up front before you upload anything personal
From where I sit, free tiers are usually enough if you actually use them especially if you are not in a capital city. That is the short version.
Got burned by this: anything pushing you off the platform in the first two messages. It is almost never worth the benefit of the doubt. That instinct is usually right.
Before anything else: stop treating it like a numbers game. Most people skip it and then wonder why nothing happens. Easiest change on this list.
For what it is worth, over on Luvdate was the one that finally got me past the first-message stage.
Respectfully, I read it differently. Free tiers stopped being enough for me after about a month. Your experience may well differ. I would still test it yourself.
Speaking only for myself, the first message decides almost everything and nobody wants to hear it. I would put money on it.
Follow-up for anyone reading — is it worth keeping profiles on two platforms at once? Someone here must have tried both.
