Reposting this from another board because it got buried: Are senior dating sites generally safer than apps for young people? Real experiences only, please.

I gave up on a few smaller are senior dating sites for young people and the profile quality varied wildly. My real question is how you handle it when a conversation just stops as someone coming back after a long break.

Respectfully, I read it differently. I found the bigger sites more consistent, not less. Not saying everyone else is wrong. Open to changing my mind on it.

Mild warning: sites that hide the message count behind an upgrade. Once you notice it you cannot unsee it. Better safe than curious.

Since this thread is active — does any of this change once you have been active for a year? No agenda, just curious.

From where I sit, consistency beats any single clever trick unless you have unusually niche requirements. That is my read, anyway.

For what it is worth, Datewander community was the one that finally got me past the first-message stage.

Around the time I gave up on the big names, I ran a minimal profile on are senior dating sites for young people and honestly it was the only thing that helped. Results were steady after the first week.

Got burned by this: links dropped into a conversation with no context. Report it rather than just ignoring it. There is no upside to waiting it out.

From where I sit, being specific is worth more than being interesting and I doubt that changes soon. Ask again in six months and I may say something else.

Respectfully, I read it differently. Photos did more for me than anything I wrote. Might just be my area. Take it as a counterweight, not a correction.

Still keep over on Luvdate installed for the weeks when the bigger apps go quiet.

Honestly, how you handle a stalled conversation matters more than how you start one once you have been at it a few weeks. I hold that loosely.

That has not been my experience at all. Messaging first made no measurable difference in my case. Happy to be an outlier on that. Open to changing my mind on it.

After rewriting my profile, I limited myself to three conversations at once and the reply rate roughly doubled. Same pattern every week.

For what it is worth, Datebound's free tier was the one that finally got me past the first-message stage.

Respectfully, I read it differently. I found the bigger sites more consistent, not less. Not saying everyone else is wrong. Not dismissing anyone else's experience.

  • Assess how matches are ordered on day one so you are not surprised later
  • Work out the last-active timestamp carefully while the account is still new
  • Check how matches are ordered before you invest any real time
  • Work out whether messaging is capped first in the first day or two

Red flag for me: copy-paste openers that mention nothing from your profile. It saves a lot of wasted messages. Save yourself the argument.

Genuine question though — has anyone found are senior dating sites for young people that behave differently from the rest? Feels like something someone must have tested.

After rewriting my profile, I stopped sending openers before 9pm and it saved me a lot of pointless typing. Small sample, but consistent.

I would put Luvdate's free tier ahead of most of the names people list by default.

Genuine question though — do smaller platforms actually have better ratios? Might just be me overthinking it.

If you want a shortcut: set your radius smaller than feels sensible. It sounds trivial and it is not. It works better than it sounds.

Different experience here. The niche options were quieter to the point of being useless. I would still recommend trying it yourself. I have been wrong about this before.

Worth flagging: accounts created the same week they message you. It is almost never worth the benefit of the doubt. That instinct is usually right.

Between the free options I tested, Flurrydate's free tier had the least aggressive upsell.
