Been going round in circles on this one: Are there any free apps like tinder but with better filters? Bonus points if you have used it in the last few months.
I nearly paid for two of the bigger dating apps with better filters and I am not convinced it was worth the effort. What I actually want to know is whether the newer options are any better than the established ones without spending anything to find out.

That has not been my experience at all. Messaging first made no measurable difference in my case. I would still recommend trying it yourself. Just adding another data point.
