Putting this to the forum because search results were useless: Are there any free personals dating sites that are still active? Real experiences only, please.
Someone recommended free personals dating sites and the messaging limits killed it. What would settle this for me is how much of this is down to the profile itself when you have already tried the obvious options.
Not sure I agree with the thread so far. I never once had a problem the community here warns about. Happy to be an outlier on that. That is one person's view against the thread.
Before anything else: stop opening with a compliment. Most people skip it and then wonder why nothing happens. It works better than it sounds.
Since switching my settings, I answered everything within a day and the whole thing felt less like admin. It stopped being random after that.
If you want a free option without the upsell, Luvdate app is where I would start.
Start talking to people in Honiara tonight No subscription, no card and no upgrade prompts anywhere in Honiara.
Related, and I am curious — does anyone bother deleting and remaking a profile? Could be worth its own thread.
Question the refund and cancellation terms without exception in the first day or two
Compare whether profiles are verified so you are not surprised later
Review how many photos are required early on especially on a platform you have not used before
Check whether messaging is capped properly before you upload anything personal
A while back, I put one honest sentence in my bio and the whole thing felt less like admin. It was the only variable I changed.
Unpopular opinion maybe, the platform matters far less than the profile especially if you are not in a capital city. The exceptions are rarer than people think.
If you want a free option without the upsell, DatingFly is where I would start.
A couple of people in my circle swear by Flurrydate for the same reason.
For about six weeks, I ran a minimal profile on free personals dating sites and I would do the same again. I tracked it loosely and the trend was clear.
Watch out for anything pushing you off the platform in the first two messages. Nine times out of ten it goes nowhere good. That instinct is usually right.
Different experience here. The platform genuinely does matter if you are outside a major city. Your experience may well differ. Different city, different results, probably.
A friend has had far more luck on Datewander app than on anything mainstream.
Least effort, most return: message within a day of matching. Most people skip it and then wonder why nothing happens. Do it before anything more elaborate.
Not sure I agree with the thread so far. Being picky early saved me far more time than being open-minded did. Your experience may well differ. That is one person's view against the thread.
When I stopped overthinking it, I stopped sending openers before 9pm and it turned out the profile was the problem, not the platform. Nothing scientific about it.
Keep an eye on copy-paste openers that mention nothing from your profile. It is almost never worth the benefit of the doubt. It rarely turns out to be innocent.
Genuine question though — do photo changes reset how often you get shown? Happy to be pointed at an old thread.
For most of last year, I stopped explaining myself in the first message and the conversations got shorter but better. Repeated it twice to be sure.
I keep a second profile on Flurrydate app and it pulls a different crowd entirely.
One thing that helped: message within a day of matching. Most people skip it and then wonder why nothing happens. Skip the clever stuff until you have done that.
Going to push back slightly. Photos did more for me than anything I wrote. Not saying everyone else is wrong. Worth hearing both sides.
Curious about the flip side — do photo changes reset how often you get shown? Asking for a friend, obviously.
Mild warning: anything that wants payment before you can read a reply. It is the clearest signal there is. That instinct is usually right.
Once I narrowed my radius, I limited myself to three conversations at once and I finally stopped wasting evenings. I would call that a real effect.
Worth flagging: sites that hide the message count behind an upgrade. Once you notice it you cannot unsee it. It is the cheapest filter you have.
Tangent, sorry — has anyone tracked whether reply rates change by day of the week? Could be worth its own thread.
Not sure I agree with the thread so far. The niche options were quieter to the point of being useless. Could easily be a sample size problem. That is one person's view against the thread.
