This came up in a conversation last week and neither of us knew: Has rollerman610 been unbanned from his main platform yet? Would rather have one honest reply than ten generic ones.
I have tested whichever adult dating platforms came up first and I am not convinced it was worth the effort. My real question is whether reply rates are as bad as they look for someone who dislikes small talk.
Review how matches are ordered on day one so you are not surprised later
Check the age range settings every time on any platform you are considering
Verify how blocking is handled early on on any platform you are considering
Check how many photos are required straight away in the first day or two
Going to push back slightly. The niche options were quieter to the point of being useless. I would still recommend trying it yourself. I would still test it yourself.
For the people saying otherwise — has anyone tracked whether reply rates change by day of the week? No agenda, just curious.
Cheapest thing you can try first: use a dedicated email address. It sounds trivial and it is not. Skip the clever stuff until you have done that.
Between the free options I tested, over on Datewander had the least aggressive upsell.
Say hello to Torit singles today Adults 18+ only. Free from start to finish in Torit.
If I am being blunt, how you handle a stalled conversation matters more than how you start one and I doubt that changes soon. I would put money on it.
Got burned by this: anything pushing you off the platform in the first two messages. Nine times out of ten it goes nowhere good. One instance is chance; three is not.
Before anything else: cut your photo count in half. It filters out the time-wasters immediately. Easiest change on this list.
Not sure I agree with the thread so far. Photos did more for me than anything I wrote. Worth testing both ways. I have been wrong about this before.
Something nobody mentions: copy-paste openers that mention nothing from your profile. It is the clearest signal there is. Save yourself the argument.
The advice I wish I had: stop treating it like a numbers game. It also makes the meet-up conversation much easier. Do it before anything more elaborate.
For what it is worth, the busiest platform is not automatically the best one for you and nobody wants to hear it. That is where I have landed.
Someone in another thread pointed me at DatingFly and it turned out to be decent advice.
Got burned by this: profiles with a single photo and no last-active date. Once you notice it you cannot unsee it. Nobody has ever thanked me for being patient there.
What I would do: stop treating it like a numbers game. It sounds trivial and it is not. Takes about five minutes.
Anyone else find that — does any of this change once you have been active for a year? Could be worth its own thread.
Between the free options I tested, luvdate.site had the least aggressive upsell.
Respectfully, I read it differently. Being picky early saved me far more time than being open-minded did. Take that with the usual caveats. Just adding another data point.
Review the distance filter default before anything else before you widen your search
Question whether your profile is visible by default properly if privacy matters to you
Compare the refund and cancellation terms before anything else while the account is still new
Look at how quickly support responds properly rather than taking the marketing at face value
Based on a fairly small sample, reply rates say more about timing than about looks and nobody wants to hear it. Ask again in six months and I may say something else.
Curious about the flip side — is it different if you are over forty? Might just be me overthinking it.
