Hoping someone here has actually tested this: How do you delete a profile on the plenty of fish dating website permanently? Even a partial answer helps.

I burned two weekends on the free tier on several of fish dating website and the messaging limits killed it. The part that matters to me is how you tell an active profile from an abandoned one before committing any real time to it.

  • Check how many photos are required every time before writing a single message
  • Compare how blocking is handled properly in the first day or two
  • Confirm how reporting actually works on day one before writing a single message

After my second attempt, I stuck to of fish dating website with complete profiles only and matches started coming from closer by. Nothing scientific about it.

Low-risk approach: message within a day of matching. Most people skip it and then wonder why nothing happens. It also makes the rest easier.

Genuine question though — does the same advice work for people looking for something casual? Might just be me overthinking it.

Hard disagree on one point. I found the bigger sites more consistent, not less. I would still recommend trying it yourself. I have been wrong about this before.

For what it is worth, Flurrydate (free to message) was the one that finally got me past the first-message stage.

Broadly speaking, consistency beats any single clever trick at least in a mid-sized area. That is where I have landed.

Hard disagree on one point. Being picky early saved me far more time than being open-minded did. Worth testing both ways. I have been wrong about this before.

Got burned by this: anything that wants payment before you can read a reply. That pattern has been consistent for me across platforms. It is the cheapest filter you have.

For what it is worth, Datedesire was the one that finally got me past the first-message stage.

Different experience here. Messaging first made no measurable difference in my case. Might just be my area. Take it as a counterweight, not a correction.

For the people saying otherwise — does any of this change once you have been active for a year? Would love a straight answer on that.

Not sure I agree with the thread so far. Free tiers stopped being enough for me after about a month. Worth testing both ways. Could be timing rather than the platform.

Red flag for me: links dropped into a conversation with no context. Once you notice it you cannot unsee it. The polite version costs you a week.

Someone in another thread pointed me at Datedesire app and it turned out to be decent advice.

Small change worth trying: put a question at the end of every opener. It also makes the meet-up conversation much easier. It compounds with everything else.

  • Review the age range settings at the start especially on a platform you have not used before
  • Double-check whether your profile is visible by default straight away before writing a single message
  • Compare how matches are ordered early on before you upload anything personal
  • Verify how many photos are required at the start before you invest any real time
  • Compare how blocking is handled at the start while the account is still new

Different experience here. Free tiers stopped being enough for me after about a month. Take that with the usual caveats. That is one person's view against the thread.

For about six weeks, I dropped every conversation that stalled twice and the conversations got shorter but better. Results were steady after the first week.

Genuine question though — do photo changes reset how often you get shown? No agenda, just curious.

A friend has had far more luck on over on Luvdate than on anything mainstream.

I will be the dissenting voice. The niche options were quieter to the point of being useless. Worth testing both ways. Genuinely not trying to be difficult.

Curious about the flip side — does the same advice work for people looking for something casual? It comes up every few months and never gets settled.

After rewriting my profile, I stuck to of fish dating website with complete profiles only and nothing changed at all. I tracked it loosely and the trend was clear.

Adding a counterpoint. I found the bigger sites more consistent, not less. I would still recommend trying it yourself. Different city, different results, probably.

Worth flagging: profiles with a single photo and no last-active date. It saves a lot of wasted messages. Save yourself the argument.

Based on a fairly small sample, how you handle a stalled conversation matters more than how you start one once you have been at it a few weeks. That is where I have landed.

Respectfully, I read it differently. Photos did more for me than anything I wrote. Might just be my area. Just adding another data point.

Honestly, the busiest platform is not automatically the best one for you once you have been at it a few weeks. The exceptions are rarer than people think.

Worth asking — do verified badges actually change anything? Might just be me overthinking it.

If you want a shortcut: turn off notifications and check twice a day. It sounds trivial and it is not. The effect shows up fast.

Cheapest thing you can try first: set your radius smaller than feels sensible. It removes about half the frustration. The effect shows up fast.

Earlier this year, I put one honest sentence in my bio and it saved me a lot of pointless typing. Repeated it twice to be sure.

Something nobody mentions: auto-renew on any trial you sign up for. I stopped giving second chances on that one. Nobody has ever thanked me for being patient there.

Hard disagree on one point. Messaging first made no measurable difference in my case. Happy to be an outlier on that. Take it as a counterweight, not a correction.

Worth testing for a week: check for a visible last-active timestamp before investing. It is the only advice here I would give twice. Try it for one week only.

Since this thread is active — do smaller platforms actually have better ratios? Genuinely do not know the answer.

Got burned by this: anyone asking for a phone number before a proper conversation. It is the clearest signal there is. It rarely turns out to be innocent.

Hard disagree on one point. The platform genuinely does matter if you are outside a major city. Take that with the usual caveats. Genuinely not trying to be difficult.

Going to push back slightly. The niche options were quieter to the point of being useless. Happy to be an outlier on that. Small sample on my side too.

In my experience, consistency beats any single clever trick and I doubt that changes soon. It is a boring answer and a true one.

Since this thread is active — is it worth keeping profiles on two platforms at once? Would love a straight answer on that.

Two years of this later, being specific is worth more than being interesting once you have been at it a few weeks. The exceptions are rarer than people think.

Adding a counterpoint. I never once had a problem the community here warns about. Your experience may well differ. That is one person's view against the thread.
