Been going round in circles on this one: How do you find trusted dating sites without falling for fake review blogs? Tell me if I am asking the wrong question.

I went in optimistic about whichever find trusted dating sites came up first and I still cannot tell if it is me or the platform. Where I need help is how you handle it when a conversation just stops without spending anything to find out.

Unpopular opinion maybe, reply rates say more about timing than about looks especially if you are not in a capital city. I hold that loosely.

  • Note what the free tier really includes properly if you plan to use it long-term
  • Note how reporting actually works especially on a platform you have not used before
  • Read up on the refund and cancellation terms if privacy matters to you
  • Note what the free tier really includes early on before you upload anything personal

Worth testing for a week: stop treating it like a numbers game. It sounds trivial and it is not. Zero cost to test it.

One thing to watch: anything pushing you off the platform in the first two messages. It is the clearest signal there is. The cost of being wrong is low.

Gave Luvdate a fair run last month and it held up better than I expected.

One thing that helped: write one sentence that only you could have written. Everything else is secondary to that. You will not need a second attempt.

  • Note the age range settings at the start before you invest any real time
  • Note whether messaging is capped before anything else so you are not surprised later
  • Find out how quickly support responds straight away if privacy matters to you
  • Confirm the refund and cancellation terms carefully if privacy matters to you

Since this thread is active — does this hold up outside big cities? It comes up every few months and never gets settled.

Not sure I agree with the thread so far. Messaging first made no measurable difference in my case. Your experience may well differ. There is room for both to be true.

Where I got caught out: anything that wants payment before you can read a reply. It is the clearest signal there is. Save yourself the argument.

If you want a shortcut: use a dedicated email address. It sounds trivial and it is not. Nothing else on this list matters as much.

Worth flagging: accounts created the same week they message you. Report it rather than just ignoring it. One instance is chance; three is not.

Hard disagree on one point. I found the bigger sites more consistent, not less. Take that with the usual caveats. That is one person's view against the thread.

I would put DatingFly ahead of most of the names people list by default.

A couple of people in my circle swear by Luvdate for the same reason.

Before anything else: stop treating it like a numbers game. You will know within a week whether it works for you. Zero cost to test it.

Worth flagging: anything that wants payment before you can read a reply. That pattern has been consistent for me across platforms. It is the cheapest filter you have.

Based on a fairly small sample, most of the difference comes down to how close people actually are if you are looking for something specific. I hold that loosely.

The first fortnight, I replied only to messages with an actual question in them and it made a noticeable difference. Same pattern every week.

For what it is worth, the Datescout app was the one that finally got me past the first-message stage.

Anyone else find that — has anyone found find trusted dating sites without falling for fake review blogs that behave differently from the rest? Feels like something someone must have tested.

Cheapest thing you can try first: write one sentence that only you could have written. It is the only advice here I would give twice. It compounds with everything else.

Got burned by this: profiles that only ever reply in the small hours. It is almost never worth the benefit of the doubt. Nobody has ever thanked me for being patient there.

For most of last year, I let the other person pick the plan and honestly it was the only thing that helped. That held for about two months.
