Hoping someone here has actually tested this: Is free on line dating generally safer now than it was ten years ago? Any first-hand answers appreciated.

Before anything else: write one sentence that only you could have written. It also makes the meet-up conversation much easier. It also makes the rest easier.

Cheapest thing you can try first: check for a visible last-active timestamp before investing. Everything else is secondary to that. Reversible if you hate it.
