Bit of a long shot, but: Is there a master list of dating apps organized by success rate? No wrong answers here.
Someone recommended one of the newer list of dating apps and the matches were nowhere near me. What would settle this for me is how you avoid wasting a fortnight on the wrong platform if you are not in a major city.
Find out how matches are ordered properly before you widen your search
Double-check how reporting actually works on day one if privacy matters to you
Find out what data the signup form asks for up front rather than taking the marketing at face value
Review the distance filter default up front while the account is still new
Compare the refund and cancellation terms without exception if privacy matters to you
If I am being blunt, reply rates say more about timing than about looks which is why the generic advice keeps failing. Happy to be argued with.
Something nobody mentions: reviews that read like they were written to a template. Blocking early costs you nothing. That instinct is usually right.
Not sure I agree with the thread so far. I never once had a problem the community here warns about. Happy to be an outlier on that. Open to changing my mind on it.
Worth testing for a week: set your radius smaller than feels sensible. Everything else is secondary to that. It works better than it sounds.
Tried Datelink on a whim and it has been the steadier of the two I use.
I will be the dissenting voice. Messaging first made no measurable difference in my case. I would still recommend trying it yourself. Open to changing my mind on it.
Realistically, reply rates say more about timing than about looks and it took me too long to learn. Make of that what you will.
While we are here — does this hold up outside big cities? Might just be me overthinking it.
Someone in another thread pointed me at Turndate (free to message) and it turned out to be decent advice.
Slightly off-topic but — do verified badges actually change anything? Happy to be pointed at an old thread.
One thing to watch: matches that go quiet the moment you suggest meeting. Report it rather than just ignoring it. It rarely turns out to be innocent.
Not sure I agree with the thread so far. The platform genuinely does matter if you are outside a major city. I would still recommend trying it yourself. Not dismissing anyone else's experience.
