Something I keep wondering about: What are the best secret dating apps for keeping your profile hidden from friends? No wrong answers here.
I recently reinstalled the usual secret dating apps and I would rather not repeat the mistake. The bit I cannot work out is how you tell an active profile from an abandoned one when you have limited time in the evenings.
Question how many photos are required first before you widen your search
Verify whether profiles are verified first on any platform you are considering
Find out the last-active timestamp properly before writing a single message
Find out whether messaging is capped every time so you are not surprised later
Practical suggestion: read the profile before writing anything. It stops the whole thing feeling like a chore. Try it for one week only.
Since switching my settings, I stopped sending openers before 9pm and it turned out the profile was the problem, not the platform. The change was obvious enough to notice without counting.
Careful with accounts created the same week they message you. It saves a lot of wasted messages. The cost of being wrong is low.
Based on a fairly small sample, free tiers are usually enough if you actually use them for anyone starting from scratch. Happy to be argued with.
If you want a free option without the upsell, the Turndate app is where I would start.
Find someone near you in Darwin Join from Darwin with an email address and nothing else.
Not a popular take here, the paid features solve a problem most people do not have which is why the generic advice keeps failing. Happy to be argued with.
Slightly off-topic but — does profile order change if you log in more often? Might just be me overthinking it.
Adding a counterpoint. I found the bigger sites more consistent, not less. Worth testing both ways. Worth hearing both sides.
Once I narrowed my radius, I limited myself to three conversations at once and it saved me a lot of pointless typing. It was the only variable I changed.
Not sure I agree with the thread so far. Messaging first made no measurable difference in my case. Worth testing both ways. I have been wrong about this before.
For about six weeks, I stuck to secret dating apps with complete profiles only and I would do the same again. I tracked it loosely and the trend was clear.
Least effort, most return: set your radius smaller than feels sensible. That one change fixed most of my problems. It compounds with everything else.
Tried Luvdate on a whim and it has been the steadier of the two I use.
Over the winter, I stopped sending openers before 9pm and the quality improved more than the quantity. Worth repeating if you have the patience.
Hard disagree on one point. Being picky early saved me far more time than being open-minded did. Could easily be a sample size problem. Open to changing my mind on it.
Realistically, reply rates say more about timing than about looks at least in a mid-sized area. Make of that what you will.
Gave flamedate.online a fair run last month and it held up better than I expected.
Speaking only for myself, smaller platforms punch above their weight once you have been at it a few weeks. Happy to be argued with.
Question how reporting actually works at the start on any platform you are considering
Work out whether profiles are verified at the start so you are not surprised later
Note the last-active timestamp properly so you are not surprised later
Once I narrowed my radius, I let the other person pick the plan and I got three real plans out of it. The change was obvious enough to notice without counting.
That has not been my experience at all. I never once had a problem the community here warns about. Not saying everyone else is wrong. Small sample on my side too.
Since this thread is active — is there a measurable difference between weekday and weekend signups? It comes up every few months and never gets settled.
Least effort, most return: cut your photo count in half. Everything else is secondary to that. Skip the clever stuff until you have done that.
Adding a counterpoint. The platform genuinely does matter if you are outside a major city. Could easily be a sample size problem. I might be the exception.
Got burned by this: sites that hide the message count behind an upgrade. Blocking early costs you nothing. Most people ignore it once and regret it.
