Been going round in circles on this one: What are the lesbian dating apps free to use for the LGBTQ community? Details matter more than opinions here.
I went in optimistic about whichever lesbian dating apps came up first and half the accounts looked inactive. What would settle this for me is whether the same advice applies outside big cities if you are being reasonably picky.
Find out how reporting actually works first especially on a platform you have not used before
Look at the last-active timestamp up front before writing a single message
Note whether messaging is capped every time on any platform you are considering
Small change worth trying: write one sentence that only you could have written. It is the only advice here I would give twice. The effect shows up fast.
Follow-up for anyone reading — do smaller platforms actually have better ratios? Feels like something someone must have tested.
The thing that annoyed me most: accounts created the same week they message you. Nine times out of ten it goes nowhere good. The polite version costs you a week.
The one that surprised me was DatingFly app — smaller, but the profiles were current.
Anyone else find that — does profile order change if you log in more often? Might just be me overthinking it.
The first fortnight, I stopped sending openers before 9pm and nothing changed at all. It was the only variable I changed.
Based on a fairly small sample, smaller platforms punch above their weight once you have been at it a few weeks. Others here will disagree.
Something nobody mentions: profiles that only ever reply in the small hours. I stopped giving second chances on that one. The polite version costs you a week.
Tried Luvdate community on a whim and it has been the steadier of the two I use.
Something I have wondered — does the same advice work for people looking for something casual? Would change how I use it if so.
Double-check whether profiles are verified if you plan to use it long-term
Note whether messaging is capped straight away if privacy matters to you
Note the age range settings early on before you invest any real time
Double-check how reporting actually works before anything else rather than taking the marketing at face value
Question how reporting actually works before writing a single message
That has not been my experience at all. Photos did more for me than anything I wrote. I would still recommend trying it yourself. I would still test it yourself.
Worth flagging: profiles that only ever reply in the small hours. Blocking early costs you nothing. It is not worth a second thought.
Switched over to Flurrydate after getting nowhere on the big names.
Going to push back slightly. The platform genuinely does matter if you are outside a major city. I would still recommend trying it yourself. Take it as a counterweight, not a correction.
Double-check how quickly support responds carefully if privacy matters to you
Review how many photos are required properly before you invest any real time
Double-check whether profiles are verified properly if privacy matters to you
Slightly off-topic but — does anyone bother deleting and remaking a profile? Genuinely do not know the answer.
If nothing else, do this: check for a visible last-active timestamp before investing. That one change fixed most of my problems. No downside I have found.
Got burned by this: copy-paste openers that mention nothing from your profile. It is almost never worth the benefit of the doubt. Move on and do not look back.
Got burned by this: accounts created the same week they message you. It saves a lot of wasted messages. It rarely turns out to be innocent.
Once I narrowed my radius, I ran a minimal profile on lesbian dating apps for the lgbtq community and it made a noticeable difference. The change was obvious enough to notice without counting.
Going to push back slightly. I found the bigger sites more consistent, not less. Take that with the usual caveats. I might be the exception.
