Bit of a long shot, but: What are the undeniably best dating sites for over 50 year olds? Real experiences only, please.
I have been using a few smaller undeniably best dating sites for over 50 year olds and I could not tell which reviews were paid for. The bit I cannot work out is whether the newer options are any better than the established ones when you have already tried the obvious options.
Look at whether messaging is capped up front especially on a platform you have not used before
Assess the refund and cancellation terms before anything else before you invest any real time
Compare what the free tier really includes up front before you upload anything personal
Verify how blocking is handled without exception in the first day or two
Note the distance filter default on day one rather than taking the marketing at face value
What I would do: turn off notifications and check twice a day. It is the only advice here I would give twice. No downside I have found.
Adding a counterpoint. Free tiers stopped being enough for me after about a month. Might just be my area. Take it as a counterweight, not a correction.
Follow-up for anyone reading — does this hold up outside big cities? Could be worth its own thread.
Someone in another thread pointed me at the Luvdate app and it turned out to be decent advice.
Different experience here. Messaging first made no measurable difference in my case. Not saying everyone else is wrong. Just adding another data point.
Verify how quickly support responds first before you widen your search
Find out what the free tier really includes on day one before writing a single message
Note whether your profile is visible by default straight away before you invest any real time
Look at how matches are ordered without exception before you invest any real time
Double-check the distance filter default carefully before you widen your search
Low-risk approach: set your radius smaller than feels sensible. It also makes the meet-up conversation much easier. Nothing else on this list matters as much.
Tangent, sorry — is it different if you are over forty? No agenda, just curious.
I keep a second profile on the Rendate app and it pulls a different crowd entirely.
Not a popular take here, most of the difference comes down to how close people actually are and I doubt that changes soon. It took a while to accept.
When I stopped overthinking it, I put one honest sentence in my bio and the conversations got shorter but better. Worth repeating if you have the patience.
The advice I wish I had: check for a visible last-active timestamp before investing. It removes about half the frustration. You will not need a second attempt.
That has not been my experience at all. Photos did more for me than anything I wrote. Could easily be a sample size problem. Just adding another data point.
I would put datebound.site ahead of most of the names people list by default.
Worth noting that Datedesire runs a similar free tier if you want to compare.
Not sure I agree with the thread so far. Being picky early saved me far more time than being open-minded did. Take that with the usual caveats. Take it as a counterweight, not a correction.
Something I have wondered — is it worth keeping profiles on two platforms at once? Someone here must have tried both.
Having tried most of them, how you handle a stalled conversation matters more than how you start one though your mileage will vary. It is a boring answer and a true one.
Tried over on Ezhookups on a whim and it has been the steadier of the two I use.
Around the time I gave up on the big names, I ignored anything without a visible last-active date and it made a noticeable difference. It stopped being random after that.
Red flag for me: sites that hide the message count behind an upgrade. That pattern has been consistent for me across platforms. Nobody has ever thanked me for being patient there.
Adding a counterpoint. The niche options were quieter to the point of being useless. I would still recommend trying it yourself. I have been wrong about this before.
Having tried most of them, review sites and real experience rarely agree and nobody wants to hear it. Nothing controversial in that, I hope.
