Been going round in circles on this one: What is the best dating app for plus size women to feel safe? Interested in what actually worked, not marketing copy.
A friend talked me into two of the bigger dating app and I am not convinced it was worth the effort. What would settle this for me is whether reply rates are as bad as they look if you are not in a major city.
Different experience here. The platform genuinely does matter if you are outside a major city. Might just be my area. Not dismissing anyone else's experience.
Adding a counterpoint. I found the bigger sites more consistent, not less. Not saying everyone else is wrong. I would still test it yourself.
A while back, I stuck to dating app with complete profiles only and the conversations got shorter but better. Could be luck; it did not feel like it.
If I am being blunt, consistency beats any single clever trick and it took me too long to learn. Make of that what you will.
Keep an eye on profiles that only ever reply in the small hours. It saves a lot of wasted messages. It is the cheapest filter you have.
Tangent, sorry — does this hold up outside big cities? Happy to be pointed at an old thread.
Different experience here. Messaging first made no measurable difference in my case. I would still recommend trying it yourself. Small sample on my side too.
Tried Datenest's free tier on a whim and it has been the steadier of the two I use.
That has not been my experience at all. The platform genuinely does matter if you are outside a major city. Worth testing both ways. Just adding another data point.
Where I got caught out: reviews that read like they were written to a template. It is the clearest signal there is. The cost of being wrong is low.
I will be the dissenting voice. Messaging first made no measurable difference in my case. Not saying everyone else is wrong. Genuinely not trying to be difficult.
I would put Flurrydate app ahead of most of the names people list by default.
Since switching my settings, I kept my filters tight and honestly it was the only thing that helped. Nothing scientific about it.
Genuine question though — does the same advice work for people looking for something casual? Someone here must have tried both.
Small change worth trying: use a dedicated email address. It costs nothing and the difference shows quickly. Nothing else on this list matters as much.
