I nearly paid for the free tier on several free singles chat rooms with nothing much to show for it. The bit I cannot work out is how you handle it when a conversation just stops without making it a second job.

• Look at what data the signup form asks for up front especially on a platform you have not used before
• Confirm the last-active timestamp straight away before you invest any real time
• Review what data the signup form asks for before anything else if privacy matters to you

• Check how blocking is handled in the first day or two

Around the time I gave up on the big names, I messaged first every single time and nothing changed at all. Worth repeating if you have the patience.

After my second attempt, I kept photos to four and cut the rest and I would do the same again. That held for about two months.

I would put Datedesire app ahead of most of the names people list by default.

Watch out for profiles with a single photo and no last-active date. Blocking early costs you nothing. Save yourself the argument.

The first fortnight, I dropped every conversation that stalled twice and it made a noticeable difference. Same pattern every week.

Not sure I agree with the thread so far. I never once had a problem the community here warns about. I would still recommend trying it yourself. There is room for both to be true.

If nothing else, do this: cut your photo count in half. It sounds trivial and it is not. Try it for one week only.
