Reposting this from another board because it got buried: Which VR headset works best for the camsoda vr experience? Interested in what actually worked, not marketing copy.

I have had mixed results with the most recommended cam sites for the camsoda vr experience and half the accounts looked inactive. What nobody seems to answer is whether reply rates are as bad as they look without handing over a card number.

Going to push back slightly. I never once had a problem the community here warns about. Could easily be a sample size problem. Different city, different results, probably.

Related, and I am curious — is it different if you are over forty? Asking for a friend, obviously.

Before anything else: read the profile before writing anything. That one change fixed most of my problems. It also makes the rest easier.

Gave DatingFly a fair run last month and it held up better than I expected.

I will be the dissenting voice. Free tiers stopped being enough for me after about a month. Worth testing both ways. Different city, different results, probably.

Worth asking — do photo changes reset how often you get shown? Would love a straight answer on that.

Mild warning: links dropped into a conversation with no context. That pattern has been consistent for me across platforms. It is the cheapest filter you have.

For most of last year, I kept photos to four and cut the rest and nothing changed at all. Small sample, but consistent.

  • Check how quickly support responds without exception if you plan to use it long-term
  • Check how blocking is handled without exception before you invest any real time
  • Check what data the signup form asks for before you invest any real time
  • Compare how matches are ordered if privacy matters to you
  • Compare what data the signup form asks for every time so you are not surprised later

From where I sit, most of the difference comes down to how close people actually are which is why the generic advice keeps failing. The exceptions are rarer than people think.

That has not been my experience at all. The platform genuinely does matter if you are outside a major city. Take that with the usual caveats. I have been wrong about this before.

I will be the dissenting voice. Being picky early saved me far more time than being open-minded did. I would still recommend trying it yourself. Small sample on my side too.

If I am being blunt, reply rates say more about timing than about looks and it took me too long to learn. That is my read, anyway.

Something nobody mentions: reviews that read like they were written to a template. I stopped giving second chances on that one. It rarely turns out to be innocent.

For about six weeks, I stopped sending openers before 9pm and I stopped taking silences personally. Same pattern every week.

For what it is worth, how you handle a stalled conversation matters more than how you start one for anyone starting from scratch. I hold that loosely.

The first fortnight, I kept photos to four and cut the rest and I would do the same again. Your area may behave differently.

For the people saying otherwise — has anyone compared this against the paid options fairly? Feels like something someone must have tested.

Respectfully, I read it differently. Free tiers stopped being enough for me after about a month. Your experience may well differ. I have been wrong about this before.

Adding a counterpoint. Being picky early saved me far more time than being open-minded did. Take that with the usual caveats. Small sample on my side too.

Adding a counterpoint. The platform genuinely does matter if you are outside a major city. Not saying everyone else is wrong. There is room for both to be true.

Around the time I gave up on the big names, I tested two profiles side by side and the conversations got shorter but better. I would call that a real effect.

Mild warning: accounts created the same week they message you. Once you notice it you cannot unsee it. Better safe than curious.

Going to push back slightly. Being picky early saved me far more time than being open-minded did. I would still recommend trying it yourself. Just adding another data point.

Before anything else: check for a visible last-active timestamp before investing. It made conversations shorter and far more useful. Easiest change on this list.

I will be the dissenting voice. The niche options were quieter to the point of being useless. Your experience may well differ. I might be the exception.

Red flag for me: accounts created the same week they message you. Blocking early costs you nothing. That instinct is usually right.

After a friend nagged me into it, I put one honest sentence in my bio and nothing changed at all. Nothing scientific about it.

The thing that annoyed me most: accounts created the same week they message you. It is the clearest signal there is. Save yourself the argument.

  • Read up on the age range settings on day one especially on a platform you have not used before
  • Look at how blocking is handled at the start if you plan to use it long-term
  • Verify whether messaging is capped straight away if privacy matters to you

Around the time I gave up on the big names, I tried the opposite of what the guides say and it turned out the profile was the problem, not the platform. It stopped being random after that.

Follow-up for anyone reading — does anyone bother deleting and remaking a profile? I have never seen data either way.

Honestly, reply rates say more about timing than about looks and it took me too long to learn. That is my read, anyway.
