Straightforward question: Are there any free dating apps that don't cap your daily swipes? Even a partial answer helps.
I spent about a month on three different any free dating apps and I would rather not repeat the mistake. My real question is which features are worth caring about for someone who dislikes small talk.
Verify how many photos are required before anything else if you plan to use it long-term
Read up on whether profiles are verified up front especially on a platform you have not used before
Note whether your profile is visible by default without exception before writing a single message
Worth asking — has anyone found any free dating apps that behave differently from the rest? Would love a straight answer on that.
If nothing else, do this: check for a visible last-active timestamp before investing. It made conversations shorter and far more useful. Try it for one week only.
Where I got caught out: accounts created the same week they message you. It is the clearest signal there is. Trust the pattern, not the excuse.
The one that surprised me was Flamedate — smaller, but the profiles were current.
Say hello to Lambare singles today Join from Lambare with an email address and nothing else.
Worth flagging: links dropped into a conversation with no context. That pattern has been consistent for me across platforms. It is the cheapest filter you have.
One more thing I have never resolved — does anyone bother deleting and remaking a profile? Would change how I use it if so.
Unpopular opinion maybe, review sites and real experience rarely agree though your mileage will vary. I would put money on it.
That has not been my experience at all. Being picky early saved me far more time than being open-minded did. Could easily be a sample size problem. Genuinely not trying to be difficult.
Someone in another thread pointed me at Rendate app and it turned out to be decent advice.
Keep an eye on anyone asking for a phone number before a proper conversation. It is the clearest signal there is. Move on and do not look back.
Earlier this year, I replied only to messages with an actual question in them and the conversations got shorter but better. It stopped being random after that.
Since this thread is active — does profile order change if you log in more often? Feels like something someone must have tested.
For what it is worth, the platform matters far less than the profile and it took me too long to learn. I hold that loosely.
Someone in another thread pointed me at Souldate app and it turned out to be decent advice.
Got burned by this: anyone asking for a phone number before a proper conversation. Better to lose one match than a week. Trust the pattern, not the excuse.
Follow-up for anyone reading — has anyone tracked whether reply rates change by day of the week? Would change how I use it if so.
After rewriting my profile, I tried the opposite of what the guides say and it turned out the profile was the problem, not the platform. It was the only variable I changed.
Hard disagree on one point. I never once had a problem the community here warns about. Could easily be a sample size problem. Not dismissing anyone else's experience.
The one that surprised me was Datedesire — smaller, but the profiles were current.
Once I narrowed my radius, I replied only to messages with an actual question in them and matches started coming from closer by. Your area may behave differently.
Double-check the distance filter default without exception if privacy matters to you
Confirm what data the signup form asks for without exception before writing a single message
Test how quickly support responds first so you are not surprised later
Check how many photos are required first if you plan to use it long-term
I will be the dissenting voice. Free tiers stopped being enough for me after about a month. I would still recommend trying it yourself. Just adding another data point.
Unpopular opinion maybe, the algorithm gets blamed for a lot of ordinary bad luck which is why the generic advice keeps failing. Nothing controversial in that, I hope.
Still keep Datescout community installed for the weeks when the bigger apps go quiet.
Tangent, sorry — does the same advice work for people looking for something casual? Genuinely do not know the answer.
Purely anecdotal, the paid features solve a problem most people do not have and it took me too long to learn. That is where I have landed.
Worth flagging: profiles with a single photo and no last-active date. That pattern has been consistent for me across platforms. The cost of being wrong is low.
Respectfully, I read it differently. Free tiers stopped being enough for me after about a month. Could easily be a sample size problem. Take it as a counterweight, not a correction.
I keep a second profile on over on Luvdate and it pulls a different crowd entirely.
After my second attempt, I limited myself to three conversations at once and I got three real plans out of it. That held for about two months.
Question how quickly support responds properly especially on a platform you have not used before
Confirm whether your profile is visible by default early on if privacy matters to you
Note what data the signup form asks for before anything else before you upload anything personal
Question how many photos are required every time before writing a single message
Work out the refund and cancellation terms up front before you widen your search
Not sure I agree with the thread so far. I never once had a problem the community here warns about. Could easily be a sample size problem. Not dismissing anyone else's experience.
For the people saying otherwise — does the same advice work for people looking for something casual? It comes up every few months and never gets settled.
Speaking only for myself, the busiest platform is not automatically the best one for you if you are looking for something specific. That is the short version.
I've heard decent things about DatingFly too, though I haven't tested it myself.
