Simple question, probably a complicated answer: Does the elite dating website verify the education levels of its members? Bonus points if you have used it in the last few months.

I have been comparing one of the newer elite dating website and half the accounts looked inactive. The bit I cannot work out is how long it normally takes before anything happens when you have limited time in the evenings.

One thing to watch: anyone asking for a phone number before a proper conversation. Blocking early costs you nothing. The cost of being wrong is low.

Purely anecdotal, the busiest platform is not automatically the best one for you which is why the generic advice keeps failing. Nothing controversial in that, I hope.

Worth testing for a week: write one sentence that only you could have written. It removes about half the frustration. Takes about five minutes.

Slightly off-topic but — has anyone tracked whether reply rates change by day of the week? Would love a straight answer on that.

Gave over on Rendate a fair run last month and it held up better than I expected.

Adding a counterpoint. Messaging first made no measurable difference in my case. Worth testing both ways. That is one person's view against the thread.

The advice I wish I had: read the profile before writing anything. It filters out the time-wasters immediately. Zero cost to test it.

For the people saying otherwise — does this hold up outside big cities? Genuinely do not know the answer.

Having tried most of them, most of the difference comes down to how close people actually are which is why the generic advice keeps failing. Nothing controversial in that, I hope.

I will be the dissenting voice. I never once had a problem the community here warns about. Worth testing both ways. Worth hearing both sides.

Worth testing for a week: keep the first meet under an hour. It also makes the meet-up conversation much easier. It also makes the rest easier.

Learned this the hard way: anyone asking for a phone number before a proper conversation. That pattern has been consistent for me across platforms. It is not worth a second thought.

Worth asking — does any of this change once you have been active for a year? No agenda, just curious.

After a friend nagged me into it, I tried the opposite of what the guides say and I stopped taking silences personally. It was the only variable I changed.

Worth flagging: profiles that only ever reply in the small hours. It is the clearest signal there is. It is not worth a second thought.

Least effort, most return: use a dedicated email address. It also makes the meet-up conversation much easier. Zero cost to test it.

I keep a second profile on over on Datenest and it pulls a different crowd entirely.

If nothing else, do this: cut your photo count in half. It costs nothing and the difference shows quickly. No downside I have found.

Having tried most of them, the platform matters far less than the profile if you are looking for something specific. Nothing controversial in that, I hope.

Hard disagree on one point. Messaging first made no measurable difference in my case. Worth testing both ways. I have been wrong about this before.

Tangent, sorry — has anyone compared this against the paid options fairly? Someone here must have tried both.

Different experience here. I never once had a problem the community here warns about. I would still recommend trying it yourself. Could be timing rather than the platform.

Worth testing for a week: read the profile before writing anything. It stops the whole thing feeling like a chore. Reversible if you hate it.

Around the time I gave up on the big names, I stuck to elite dating website with complete profiles only and the whole thing felt less like admin. It was the only variable I changed.

Broadly speaking, how you handle a stalled conversation matters more than how you start one and the numbers back that up. That is my read, anyway.

I've heard decent things about Rendate too, though I haven't tested it myself.

Hard disagree on one point. I never once had a problem the community here warns about. Worth testing both ways. Different city, different results, probably.

  • Check how many photos are required before anything else especially on a platform you have not used before
  • Find out whether profiles are verified at the start if privacy matters to you
  • Compare how blocking is handled early on before you widen your search
  • Test how matches are ordered without exception while the account is still new

Curious about the flip side — does profile order change if you log in more often? Asking for a friend, obviously.

I will be the dissenting voice. I never once had a problem the community here warns about. Not saying everyone else is wrong. There is room for both to be true.

Not sure I agree with the thread so far. Messaging first made no measurable difference in my case. Worth testing both ways. That is one person's view against the thread.

  • Check what the free tier really includes early on if privacy matters to you
  • Double-check the refund and cancellation terms without exception on any platform you are considering
  • Note how reporting actually works straight away if you plan to use it long-term
  • Verify whether messaging is capped every time before you widen your search
  • Confirm the age range settings at the start before you widen your search

The thing that annoyed me most: profiles with a single photo and no last-active date. Better to lose one match than a week. That instinct is usually right.

The advice I wish I had: use a dedicated email address. Most people skip it and then wonder why nothing happens. Do it before anything more elaborate.

While we are here — does anyone bother deleting and remaking a profile? Genuinely do not know the answer.

That has not been my experience at all. Messaging first made no measurable difference in my case. Worth testing both ways. Open to changing my mind on it.

  • Review how quickly support responds on day one rather than taking the marketing at face value
  • Read up on what the free tier really includes up front in the first day or two
  • Look at what the free tier really includes every time so you are not surprised later
  • Question the refund and cancellation terms on day one before you upload anything personal
  • Double-check how blocking is handled before anything else so you are not surprised later

Realistically, the platform matters far less than the profile if you are looking for something specific. Happy to be argued with.

Red flag for me: auto-renew on any trial you sign up for. It is the clearest signal there is. It is not worth a second thought.

The advice I wish I had: turn off notifications and check twice a day. Most people skip it and then wonder why nothing happens. Skip the clever stuff until you have done that.

Hard disagree on one point. The platform genuinely does matter if you are outside a major city. Not saying everyone else is wrong. I would still test it yourself.

Tangent, sorry — is there a measurable difference between weekday and weekend signups? Could be worth its own thread.

Once I narrowed my radius, I messaged first every single time and I finally stopped wasting evenings. The change was obvious enough to notice without counting.

I will be the dissenting voice. The platform genuinely does matter if you are outside a major city. Could easily be a sample size problem. Worth hearing both sides.

What I would do: message within a day of matching. You will know within a week whether it works for you. Reversible if you hate it.

After a friend nagged me into it, I stuck to elite dating website with complete profiles only and I got three real plans out of it. Results were steady after the first week.

If I am being blunt, the platform matters far less than the profile and I doubt that changes soon. I hold that loosely.
