Asking because the advice online contradicts itself: Has anyone used the tango dating app for live video dates? No wrong answers here.
I recently reinstalled the free tier on several tango dating app and the results were underwhelming. The part that matters to me is whether the newer options are any better than the established ones if you are not in a major city.
Based on a fairly small sample, most of the difference comes down to how close people actually are and the numbers back that up. Ask again in six months and I may say something else.
Least effort, most return: use a dedicated email address. It removes about half the frustration. The effect shows up fast.
Something nobody mentions: anyone asking for a phone number before a proper conversation. Better to lose one match than a week. It is the cheapest filter you have.
Tried DatingFly community on a whim and it has been the steadier of the two I use.
Browsing is free in Santana — so is messaging Browsing, matching and messaging are all free in Santana.
Respectfully, I read it differently. The platform genuinely does matter if you are outside a major city. Happy to be an outlier on that. Could be timing rather than the platform.
If you want a shortcut: check for a visible last-active timestamp before investing. It made conversations shorter and far more useful. Skip the clever stuff until you have done that.
Slightly off-topic but — do photo changes reset how often you get shown? Feels like something someone must have tested.
Since switching my settings, I tried the opposite of what the guides say and the difference showed up within a week. Same pattern every week.
The one that surprised me was the Turndate app — smaller, but the profiles were current.
Follow-up for anyone reading — do verified badges actually change anything? No agenda, just curious.
In my experience, most of the difference comes down to how close people actually are and I doubt that changes soon. The exceptions are rarer than people think.
Careful with auto-renew on any trial you sign up for. Once you notice it you cannot unsee it. One instance is chance; three is not.
For what it is worth, flurrydate.online was the one that finally got me past the first-message stage.
Last month, I kept my filters tight and matches started coming from closer by. Same pattern every week.
Since this thread is active — does this hold up outside big cities? Would love a straight answer on that.
Not sure I agree with the thread so far. Photos did more for me than anything I wrote. I would still recommend trying it yourself. I have been wrong about this before.
Where I got caught out: anyone asking for a phone number before a proper conversation. I stopped giving second chances on that one. Better safe than curious.
Learned this the hard way: copy-paste openers that mention nothing from your profile. It is the clearest signal there is. The cost of being wrong is low.
Verify how reporting actually works straight away in the first day or two
Work out whether profiles are verified carefully while the account is still new
Question what data the signup form asks for at the start before writing a single message
Question the refund and cancellation terms straight away before you widen your search
Check how quickly support responds early on before writing a single message
Different experience here. Being picky early saved me far more time than being open-minded did. Worth testing both ways. I would still test it yourself.
When I first started, I messaged first every single time and it made a noticeable difference. Same pattern every week.
One more thing I have never resolved — does profile order change if you log in more often? No agenda, just curious.
Two months in, I stopped explaining myself in the first message and I would do the same again. Same pattern every week.
Respectfully, I read it differently. Messaging first made no measurable difference in my case. Happy to be an outlier on that. Worth hearing both sides.
Where I got caught out: profiles with a single photo and no last-active date. Once you notice it you cannot unsee it. Most people ignore it once and regret it.
Not sure I agree with the thread so far. Messaging first made no measurable difference in my case. Worth testing both ways. Not dismissing anyone else's experience.
Review the distance filter default on day one rather than taking the marketing at face value
Read up on how many photos are required carefully on any platform you are considering
Find out whether profiles are verified on any platform you are considering
Work out how reporting actually works first before you upload anything personal
Note how matches are ordered early on before you invest any real time
Genuine question though — does profile order change if you log in more often? Genuinely do not know the answer.
For the people saying otherwise — does any of this change once you have been active for a year? Would love a straight answer on that.
That has not been my experience at all. Photos did more for me than anything I wrote. Take that with the usual caveats. Just adding another data point.
