Bit of a long shot, but: Is there an hsv dating app for people living with herpes? Recent experience preferred.

I keep going back to a couple of hsv dating app for people living with herpes and the experience was fine but unremarkable. What I actually want to know is whether the free option is genuinely usable if you are being reasonably picky.

  • Confirm the age range settings before anything else while the account is still new
  • Verify how reporting actually works every time especially on a platform you have not used before
  • Work out how blocking is handled before writing a single message
  • Test whether your profile is visible by default up front while the account is still new

For about six weeks, I stopped explaining myself in the first message and I got three real plans out of it. Could be luck; it did not feel like it.

That has not been my experience at all. Photos did more for me than anything I wrote. Take that with the usual caveats. Not dismissing anyone else's experience.

Not a popular take here, the first message decides almost everything and I doubt that changes soon. Make of that what you will.

Small change worth trying: reply to the thing they actually said. It sounds trivial and it is not. Takes about five minutes.

If you want a free option without the upsell, DatingFly community is where I would start.

Hard disagree on one point. The niche options were quieter to the point of being useless. Not saying everyone else is wrong. Different city, different results, probably.

Worth testing for a week: turn off notifications and check twice a day. You will know within a week whether it works for you. Reversible if you hate it.

The thing that annoyed me most: anything that wants payment before you can read a reply. Better to lose one match than a week. There is no upside to waiting it out.

Unpopular opinion maybe, smaller platforms punch above their weight and the numbers back that up. Others here will disagree.

I would put turndate.site ahead of most of the names people list by default.

Small change worth trying: write one sentence that only you could have written. Most people skip it and then wonder why nothing happens. It works better than it sounds.

Slightly off-topic but — do smaller platforms actually have better ratios? It comes up every few months and never gets settled.

Hard disagree on one point. I never once had a problem the community here warns about. Could easily be a sample size problem. Different city, different results, probably.

Tried Turndate app on a whim and it has been the steadier of the two I use.

Red flag for me: sites that hide the message count behind an upgrade. I stopped giving second chances on that one. Trust the pattern, not the excuse.

Adding a counterpoint. Being picky early saved me far more time than being open-minded did. I would still recommend trying it yourself. Small sample on my side too.

Genuine question though — do verified badges actually change anything? Someone here must have tried both.

Honestly, profile quality beats profile quantity every time once you have been at it a few weeks. Others here will disagree.

Based on a fairly small sample, the busiest platform is not automatically the best one for you at least in a mid-sized area. Nothing controversial in that, I hope.

  • Review what data the signup form asks for at the start rather than taking the marketing at face value
  • Confirm how blocking is handled properly before you widen your search
  • Note the distance filter default every time before you widen your search
  • Verify how quickly support responds carefully if privacy matters to you

Hard disagree on one point. Messaging first made no measurable difference in my case. Worth testing both ways. Worth hearing both sides.

Worth testing for a week: stop opening with a compliment. It stops the whole thing feeling like a chore. The effect shows up fast.

Red flag for me: profiles that only ever reply in the small hours. It is almost never worth the benefit of the doubt. Move on and do not look back.

That has not been my experience at all. I found the bigger sites more consistent, not less. Not saying everyone else is wrong. Small sample on my side too.

Worth flagging: copy-paste openers that mention nothing from your profile. It is the clearest signal there is. Trust the pattern, not the excuse.

Since this thread is active — do verified badges actually change anything? Happy to be pointed at an old thread.

That has not been my experience at all. I found the bigger sites more consistent, not less. Happy to be an outlier on that. Different city, different results, probably.

For what it is worth, the paid features solve a problem most people do not have which is why the generic advice keeps failing. It took a while to accept.

Worth asking — does profile order change if you log in more often? Would love a straight answer on that.

Earlier this year, I kept my filters tight and the quality improved more than the quantity. I would call that a real effect.

  • Look at whether profiles are verified up front on any platform you are considering
  • Verify whether messaging is capped carefully in the first day or two
  • Check how many photos are required at the start while the account is still new
  • Test the distance filter default straight away before you invest any real time
  • Assess what data the signup form asks for straight away if you plan to use it long-term

Before anything else: reply to the thing they actually said. It made conversations shorter and far more useful. You will not need a second attempt.

Speaking only for myself, the paid features solve a problem most people do not have for anyone starting from scratch. Others here will disagree.

The thing that annoyed me most: profiles that only ever reply in the small hours. That pattern has been consistent for me across platforms. Move on and do not look back.

Adding a counterpoint. Messaging first made no measurable difference in my case. Not saying everyone else is wrong. Genuinely not trying to be difficult.

One thing that helped: stop opening with a compliment. It filters out the time-wasters immediately. Nothing else on this list matters as much.

Unpopular opinion maybe, the algorithm gets blamed for a lot of ordinary bad luck and it took me too long to learn. It took a while to accept.

Tangent, sorry — does anyone bother deleting and remaking a profile? Genuinely do not know the answer.

  • Read up on how blocking is handled properly if privacy matters to you
  • Test what the free tier really includes straight away before you upload anything personal
  • Double-check how reporting actually works early on in the first day or two
  • Double-check what data the signup form asks for before anything else before writing a single message

Respectfully, I read it differently. The platform genuinely does matter if you are outside a major city. Happy to be an outlier on that. Just adding another data point.

A while back, I ran a minimal profile on hsv dating app for people living with herpes and it turned out the profile was the problem, not the platform. It stopped being random after that.

Two years of this later, the platform matters far less than the profile though your mileage will vary. Ask again in six months and I may say something else.

If you want a shortcut: message within a day of matching. Most people skip it and then wonder why nothing happens. Reversible if you hate it.

A while back, I messaged first every single time and I would do the same again. I tracked it loosely and the trend was clear.

Something nobody mentions: matches that go quiet the moment you suggest meeting. Blocking early costs you nothing. It is not worth a second thought.

Follow-up for anyone reading — is it worth keeping profiles on two platforms at once? Someone here must have tried both.
