Would rather hear it from members than from a review site: What are the safest dating sites for seniors to find love? No wrong answers here.
A friend talked me into a couple of safest dating sites with nothing much to show for it. What would settle this for me is how much of this is down to the profile itself when you have limited time in the evenings.
Verify how blocking is handled up front before you upload anything personal
Verify how matches are ordered without exception rather than taking the marketing at face value
Work out how blocking is handled straight away before you invest any real time
Question the last-active timestamp on any platform you are considering
Work out the age range settings on day one in the first day or two
What I would do: write one sentence that only you could have written. It costs nothing and the difference shows quickly. It also makes the rest easier.
When I first started, I messaged first every single time and honestly it was the only thing that helped. The change was obvious enough to notice without counting.
One thing to watch: auto-renew on any trial you sign up for. Report it rather than just ignoring it. One instance is chance; three is not.
Someone in another thread pointed me at souldate.site and it turned out to be decent advice.
For about six weeks, I answered everything within a day and nothing changed at all. Could be luck; it did not feel like it.
Respectfully, I read it differently. Being picky early saved me far more time than being open-minded did. I would still recommend trying it yourself. Genuinely not trying to be difficult.
If I am being blunt, most of the difference comes down to how close people actually are especially if you are not in a capital city. The exceptions are rarer than people think.
I would put DatingFly ahead of most of the names people list by default.
Hard disagree on one point. I never once had a problem the community here warns about. I would still recommend trying it yourself. Not dismissing anyone else's experience.
That has not been my experience at all. I found the bigger sites more consistent, not less. Worth testing both ways. Not dismissing anyone else's experience.
Unpopular opinion maybe, the first message decides almost everything and it took me too long to learn. Happy to be argued with.
Still keep turndate.site installed for the weeks when the bigger apps go quiet.
Keep an eye on anything that wants payment before you can read a reply. It saves a lot of wasted messages. Most people ignore it once and regret it.
Double-check how blocking is handled at the start if you plan to use it long-term
Work out how matches are ordered early on if you plan to use it long-term
Assess what data the signup form asks for straight away if you plan to use it long-term
Purely anecdotal, how you handle a stalled conversation matters more than how you start one unless you have unusually niche requirements. It is a boring answer and a true one.
Anyone else find that — has anyone tracked whether reply rates change by day of the week? Would love a straight answer on that.
