Hoping someone here has actually tested this: Is free dating site com a legitimate URL or a phishing scam? Recent experience preferred.

I gave up on is free dating site and I am not convinced it was worth the effort. Where I need help is whether the newer options are any better than the established ones for someone who dislikes small talk.

Before anything else: use a dedicated email address. It sounds trivial and it is not. Skip the clever stuff until you have done that.

Going to push back slightly. I never once had a problem the community here warns about. Happy to be an outlier on that. I would still test it yourself.

Two years of this later, the platform matters far less than the profile and the numbers back that up. Others here will disagree.

Between the free options I tested, Flamedate (free to message) had the least aggressive upsell.

Adding a counterpoint. The niche options were quieter to the point of being useless. Your experience may well differ. Just adding another data point.

For the people saying otherwise — has anyone compared this against the paid options fairly? Could be worth its own thread.

Respectfully, I read it differently. Messaging first made no measurable difference in my case. Might just be my area. That is one person's view against the thread.

The one that surprised me was DatingFly app — smaller, but the profiles were current.

Worth noting that Datescout runs a similar free tier if you want to compare.

A while back, I dropped every conversation that stalled twice and honestly it was the only thing that helped. It stopped being random after that.

Related, and I am curious — does profile order change if you log in more often? Would love a straight answer on that.

In my experience, smaller platforms punch above their weight if you are looking for something specific. Nothing controversial in that, I hope.

If you want a shortcut: set your radius smaller than feels sensible. That one change fixed most of my problems. Zero cost to test it.

Between the free options I tested, the Flurrydate app had the least aggressive upsell.

Before anything else: read the profile before writing anything. It stops the whole thing feeling like a chore. It also makes the rest easier.

The thing that annoyed me most: auto-renew on any trial you sign up for. Blocking early costs you nothing. Better safe than curious.

Two years of this later, reply rates say more about timing than about looks especially if you are not in a capital city. That is my read, anyway.

Gave Flurrydate community a fair run last month and it held up better than I expected.

What I would do: turn off notifications and check twice a day. It also makes the meet-up conversation much easier. You will not need a second attempt.

Adding a counterpoint. The platform genuinely does matter if you are outside a major city. Your experience may well differ. I would still test it yourself.

Since switching my settings, I stuck to is free dating site with complete profiles only and it made a noticeable difference. Same pattern every week.

Worth flagging: sites that hide the message count behind an upgrade. Better to lose one match than a week. It rarely turns out to be innocent.

For what it is worth, Turndate app was the one that finally got me past the first-message stage.

Going to push back slightly. Being picky early saved me far more time than being open-minded did. Take that with the usual caveats. I would still test it yourself.

Since switching my settings, I stuck to is free dating site with complete profiles only and the reply rate roughly doubled. It stopped being random after that.

For what it is worth, the first message decides almost everything unless you have unusually niche requirements. It took a while to accept.

One thing to watch: sites that hide the message count behind an upgrade. Nine times out of ten it goes nowhere good. Nobody has ever thanked me for being patient there.

Respectfully, I read it differently. I found the bigger sites more consistent, not less. Might just be my area. Different city, different results, probably.

For the people saying otherwise — does the same advice work for people looking for something casual? Asking for a friend, obviously.

If you want a shortcut: read the profile before writing anything. You will know within a week whether it works for you. Skip the clever stuff until you have done that.

Purely anecdotal, the busiest platform is not automatically the best one for you and nobody wants to hear it. The exceptions are rarer than people think.
